This class targets the kayaker wishing to advance his/her own personal skill into steeper and more complex rapids in river corridors more confining or dangerous. This is an Intro to Creekin'  class which will focus more on the 'basics' of this area of creeking. Basic priciples of safety and technique will be discussed and practiced.

This class will happen the second half of June. As the date gets closer and more snow has melted away the weekend date will make itself known along with the river.

Prerequisites are that each participant have all of their own gear (PM me if you have questions), are comfortable in class IV, and have a strong desire to further themselves in a classroom setting. This class is also for those who would like to know more about river safety and how to create simple rescue systems with throw bags.

This class is limited to the first eight people who sign up. So sign up now!! PM me with questions.

                       Brett

That sounds scary!   Confining and dangerous...   So are you teaching people to paddle the complex class 3 rapids usually reserved for the Flatwater Wacko?  Or is it like group learning,  where the teacher is taught by the students,  and is appauled to find out that perhaps,  it is he who needs an intro to creeking course....

I am kind of surprised I didn't see a Hugo post here, like last year.

I just had an idea     Leif should be the first graduate of the Flat Water Wacko Creeking course!     I can see it  pictured now... Leif runs the gnar with instructor Flat Water Wacko in the background looking on, showing the proper way to portage a class 3 drop.  Maybe the mission statement should read "   Taking this course is guaranteed to make you a better boater than your instructor,  within the first lesson!    If not, please go home and shoot yourself,  hell has just frozen over.

Don't get too upset about the harassment, Brett.  Only certain people get their fake logins approved (e.g. not me), so the deck is stacked, I am sorry to say.

Pretty lame if I do say so myself.

Lame that SBA is so offensive, and lame that Leif won't stop crying about having a fake account, can't we all just get along?

Maybe...  But only if Leif shares his snack box that contains a new Peanuttle supply...

I will bypass the useless banter above....  and ask:

Where might the class IV instruction take place?  I know predictions can't be made now but what rivers would be considered for the course.

How much might this class cost for those wanting to step up?

I think Brett is offering a valid course and I watched him take a group down the Cooper last year. It looked to me like everyone was enjoying themselves and they probably wouldn't have been out there if it weren't for Brett.

So you guys that are just class V junkies should lay off. I haven't seen anyone else step up to offer a creeking intro and I am sure Brett will use the Cooper or FITW for a classroom. They both offer great access and portability for people that are learning.

I would take the course, but I enjoy getting a good beat down, swimming and having everyone laugh at me later...what are friends for anyway?

Sir Goofy Snot, while i admire your willingness to say what's on your mind, ahhh--- what's the point?
just remember that river karma has a wide arc...

Leaf- quit whining. we've heard it, we're bored with it, move on.

I like to whine.

Which one of you fools is James?

Brett - I'd like to apologize the direction this is gone.  I suppose you had to know this would happen.

well I ain't about to bash on the Waterwacko. There are worse things to be Wacko about.

I will say though that I'm willing to share what I know about creeking and paddling for the all time low price of $0. Anyone on this site who is interested simply needs to call me up. I may not be willing to drop 50 footers, but I've been paddling longer than most. No that doesn't make me the best by any means, but I've seen and experienced a lot. I can clue people into things the kayak instructors don't know or won't articulate.

I know that merely by stating that will open me up to a barrage of heckling from the likes of Hugo, Sir Boofs Alot, and who knows who else, but I don't care.

To those who want some in depth instruction, give me a shout and maybe you can pay for gas or somethin. You either have my number, know someone who does, or can PM me.

I have to say, John is throwing out a pretty good deal there. I have seen him lead and instruct and JP is good. He is very informative and extremely detailed with rapid descriptions. John also has a lot of patients. For $0.00 that is a good deal!
