Better Movement for More Efficient Paddling

Free Presentation and Demonstration Class using Feldenkrais movement technique

7pm:  arrive and socialize

7:30 – 8:45pm:  presentation

Increase strength, speed, and endurance for any style of kayaking by applying innovative mind-body exercises based on the Feldenkrais Method®.  Learn how to improve your paddling posture to limit muscle strain and reduce the chance of injury.   Improve comfort in your back, discover easier action in your arms, and enhance your balance for leaning, turning, edging, and bracing.  Bring a mat or thick blanket to lie on that’s large enough for rolling from side to side.  A yoga mat with a blanket on top works well.  Large furniture moving blankets are also optimal.

About the presenter:  Peggy Protz, Guild Certified Feldenkrais® Teacher, has a BFA in dance and was certified as a Pilates instructor.  She has been helping people with their movement for over 15 years.  Reach her at (206) 412-7758.

Just a reminder, come on out for this. No matter how good we think we paddle, we can all use a little coaching on efficiency in our body movement. Hope to see a decent crowd out here. We have plenty of room, just remember to bring a yoga mat or something similar to lie on.

Bill

Post-event report:
We had 30 people in the shop for this event, which was a few too many as we were all lying on the floor doing some of Peggy's motion exercises. Given a little more room to spread out, the moves seemed well designed to increase balance and efficiency for any sport, paddling in particular. We may set up another event with Peggy, but in the meantime anyone wishing to contact her for some private therapy can contact her at (206) 412-7758
