I'm in if it stays up, but could you bump the meet time to 11:30?  10:30 is pretty early when you're driving up from the dry shitties.

MM if the green drops too much?

Posted By: dave
Date Posted: 06 Dec 2007 at 1:18pm
Ya, if it drops below 1150cfs, we should go to the MM. I'm game down to 1000, but I leave it up to the masses to decide.

Looking at the gauges I'm probably going to hop over white pass and hit the nisqually, If the current decay rate holds it should be around 2250 on Saturday.

Date Posted: 06 Dec 2007 at 4:28pm
Are you serious, the Nisqually? I spent 10 years on that river learning to Kayak, at higher flows it's kinda fun, a few good play holes here and there, but it's easy class III. Of course there is Stewart's meats right next to the river and thats a big plus! unless your talking about doing the upper Nisqually gorge, thats class V and it's a federal trespassing charge if you go in there without written permission. Thanks to homeland security. I'm thinking the MM would be a better choice.

Anyone still considering the MM on Sat? Id be interested in running it. The Green is still above my level.

Well, the main reason I'm heading back west this weekend is to take my dad to the game on sunday, and he lives in Olympia. The nisqually is a lot less driving for me than going through seattle, down to oly, then back up to seattle.

Just spoke to the regulators at Howard Hanson.  Flow is being set to 1200 for the weekend and should start dropping to that flow shortly.  May be dropped additionally sat night.

I'd like to get in there tomorrow, it's lower than I like, but still best weekend flow in some time.

That may be a back up plan for our group, as it looks like creekin isn't going to come together.

Alternatively, if you'd like to run the Headworks of the green with us (II-III) or the lower gorge with a brief hike in (also II-III) you'd be welcome to join us.

I'd say if you can handle House Rocks at 2000 on the MM, you can handle the green gorge at 1200 with a good crew.  If you would like to step up, this a good flow to do so and you'd be welcome to join our group.

I'm up for a 1200 cfs run, so I'm in. Unless it drops more, then the MM is a god backup plan.

I too am interested in *finally* running the Upper Gorge.  Tomorrow could be the day if the dam operators decide to be nice.  And, Dave, even though Deborah is out of town, I have a limited supply of baked goods!

Looks like they ramped her up.  If Robe goes below 5ft, I'll probably meet up for this.

I'll be at the Paradise takeout probably around 11:00. 10 is a little early since I've gotta drive out from Kennewick.

Are you just running the upper gorge?  If so, we may see you.  I think we might opt for the whole headworks to flaming geyser run.

So is the meeting time 11 or 11:30??  Ryan - are you just indicating that you are going to try to get to the take-out by 11 but there is no change to the meeting time?  Anytime is fine by me - just want to get there on time

Hello All

I just got off the phone with the folks up at headworks dam.  The flow for tomorrow will be around 1100cfs.  Sunday will be around 1150cfs.  Just FYI...pretty meager.  Not sure what I plan to do yet.  Just trying to decide.

I might just  park and play at paradise if it ends up that low.

Date Posted: 07 Dec 2007 at 4:14pm
I plan on meeting at 11:30 at the paradise takeout and am only running the upper gorge section and will run it if it's at 1100cfs, kinda like a big creek run at that level and still pretty in the gorge, also a good non-pushy level for your first time down Arno. Did you say cookies?

Ya, Paradise will be good at that level, but I still want to do the gorge run, haven't been in there for a year or so and miss it.

Well, for the record, I said baked goods :-)

Gingerbread, mmmmmmm.

I just hope the dam guys don't send it down even lower.  Upper Gorge only run sounds good to me.  Looking forward to it!

I'd like to join y'all and'll be there unless it goes below 1100. If it drops, the sultan might be fun.

Id be interested in the Gorge if you don't mind showing the lines. A first time for everything. Is 11:30 still the time? Is the take out just after the Franklin bridge behind the locked gate?

Posted By: dave
Date Posted: 07 Dec 2007 at 6:27pm
The Sultan is always fun! Especially at 1550cfs!!!! Look out for the Last Nasty at that level, it was eating us up at 1000cfs

So it's true?

I heard a rumor that today would mark James' illustrious return to our beloved sport. I trust this monumental event was heralded with the appropriate fanfare.

...Welcome back James.

Yep, true story.  Good to see you on the river James.  Keep that shoulder injury free.  Your not missing anything.

We got some great footage at Paradise today.  I think this is the best shot. Nice Eric!!

Looks like some fun times.

I was suprised sky turnout was so low...only 3 of us and some cat boaters. Split Rock wave was excellent, and certainly is worth checking out before the river receeds to its pre-flood levels.

I didn't join up because I passed the takeour, got a little lost and then just globbed on to the first car I saw with kayaks on top.

Thanks to Kurt, Matt and Garret(?) for a good time!
