We are back on!  Sorry for the short notice, but there was no way around it.  Jan 31st, next thursday in the pool.  Hope you can make it, bring your friends!

World class female kayaker Heather Herbeck will be coming to UPS. Heather is an incredibly talented instructor who has helped progress the sport of kayaking. This event is to promote females to try out the male dominated sport of kayaking. Do not be fooled, this is the coolest event our club has ever put on, and it is for GIRLS ONLY! Come and listen to Heather's adventures from many exotic corners of the world. Come hop in a kayak, meet tons of great people and have a fantastic time.

*please no sea kayaks


Cost-
$5 -kayak club members
$7 -nonmember student
$10 -nonstudent w/ gear
$20 -nonstudent w/o gear

At the end of the event we will raffle off 2 pairs of Chaco sandals!! Also, there will be door prizes for the first people who come, there are more than 10 prize bags which could contains belts, teva straps, nalgenes, stickers and more!!! To enter the raffle for the Chacos, you can either buy raffle tickets in the SUB next week (we will have a table), or you can buy them at the event.

Make sure to bring your swimsuit and towel, and be ready to have a good time!!!

I've heard from a bunch of girls that they feel intimidated by guys being there.  Whatever their reasons are, i'm going to see what happens with this event.  On a good note though, I am planning a much more kickass event open to everyone, Flat water rodeo competition.  be ready.

Yeah.  I can see that.  It tends to be a testosterone heavy sport. 
 
Anything we can do to encourage women to participate is a good thing.  Paddling with the guys is great, but I really prefer a co-ed group.

we are planning to hold this event in early Feburary.  There may be a few minor changes with the raffle, but everything else will be good to go at the UPS pool.

WE ARE ON, JAN 31st!  If you know any female kayakers that could help out with basic instruction that would be awesome too, send em my way and I will take care of it (maybe even find a tiny stipend)
