This is the FITW laps discussion thread. Please post any questions below.

Remember the actual Trip Details are located on the FITW laps | Trip Page

If the flows are good (med-low) I'll be running laps on FITW Wednesday evening.  If anyone is new to the run, I'd be happy to show them the lines.

Hey Tom, I've been jones'n to do FITW. Never seemed to work out. If you can do the left/right/middle/paddlehard thing that would be great. I'd be leaving from Redmond-Willows.    Liam

Ashley, it is tough to say because the gauge does not correlate well with the run (it is way downstream with several tributaries in between).  I would say that if the gauge is under 350 you are probably good to go but you need to look at the gauge rock (it is a cup shaped rock right below the FITW proper and fairly obvious) to be sure.  James can elaborate but basically, if the cup is dry, it is too low and if the cup is full go run the MM.   Other than that the only requirements are a creekboat (unless your badass, in which case you don't need me) and a good boof stroke.

I might be up there if it stays high enough.

Anyone got a guess as to how much the recent rain has affected the lower feeder creeks?

Hey Dave, I ran it in my Techno at least six times before I ever pulled out my creeker, and it took 800 cfs for me to do that. So do it in the boat your comfortable with.

I got in a few laps and had qutie a bit of fun. Levels were the lowest I have ever done it. I mean the cup was empty baby. Bonalicious but still good times plenty of lines and fast runs with jogs in between.

Thanks James,
two things... first your a nite owl.
second, I wonder if the gauge is out of whack.  It sounds like 260 is a new minimum low with 400 being a healthy medium.  Or am I missing something?

Posted By: Ryan
Date Posted: 14 Jun 2007 at 1:17pm
It was 280 when we got there and 275 when I got home.  It could be done lower for sure but it's getting real boney.

So who got the most Laps In yesterday?

POW how many did you end up getting? Did Ryan fufill his promise?

On a seperate note which should be included in the same post as laps etc...
On one of my last laps I was putting on behind the group at the seal launch. Everyone in my group was already on the river and waiting. I took a quick peak down below and did not see anyone so I launched off. In mid air I saw against the cliff wall a boater that had run the little undercut just above the seal launch and I could have easily landed on him. The moral of the story is that its cool to have fun on the river but speed and horseplay can quickly get someone hurt if your not responsible. Let this just be a mid season reminder to the dangers of dropping in, and clearing drops before sending the next man down. Thankfully this time everything was ok and the boater that I landed near was very understanding but its a good warning to keep in mind. Keep er safe!

I got in 4 and exceeded my promise.

I'll post some video and pics later this evening.  I got several of Tom, Leif, Liam, and Jordon.  Tobin got a good shot of James and I running Larry's.

I tried to get a shot of James but just could catch that bullet speed!

I think it's safe to say you got the most James.

I did get three before my seat gave in.  Wish I coulda done a couple more.

Very forgiving level last night, much slower in between drops than at med, med-high flows.

Posted By: tradguy2
Date Posted: 14 Jun 2007 at 4:07pm
Definitley the lowest I've done it.  I like it most around 400.  The lines clean up, the holes are still not bad and the pools in between the drops are still reasonable.
