Hey all! I'm looking for advice on the Deschutes. I'd really like to do a self supported kayak trip down this river. I'm not sure what section would be best. I know it's a bit easier, class 2/3 and I'm Ok with that. I want to go for the adventure :)

So things I'm wondering or would like advice on:

When is a good time to go?

What section is typically paddled for a multiday trip?

I've heard there are toilets and campgrounds on this river, is this true? Does this mean you don't need a groover?

Are there bears/do you need to hang food?

Is anyone else interested in doing this trip? I figure if I start planning now, I can work it into my work schedule. I'd love to do it when it's warmer out, but I'm open to cold adventures too.

Cheers!
