Looking for some beta. Is there a working gauge for the cle elum? I know it worked last year. If not is there any correlation to go off of?

And has anyone been on it this year? Free of snow? Any wood?

NWRFC has a Cle Elum page with inflow into the lake, as well as the forecast.  Since it's lake inflow, you'll need to account for the Cooper, which contributes a greater percentage as the season progresses.

About 30 seconds on the internet yielded the following easily discoverable information:

Gauge looks like it was working fine until a couple days ago.

The government posts information about NF road conditions.

China Gorge usually opens around the first of june in an average year. Probably be mid- to late June this year before the get-in is accessible. It's supposed to snow 1' at 4000 feet today.

On the upper section, Salmon la Sac down to one of the bridges, there is camp ground and quick shuttles, right now it's probably good to go, but can be pretty boney at times. There is a couple of 2+/3- rapids, and a few surf waves that hangout. I'm in ellensburg if you'd ever wanna go paddle it together, its a good time. The gauge is located below the dam, which is a controlled release. Just know that rain or sun events will probably up the flow in the river, there is also a decent amount of wood scattered around, but nothing that is a mandatory portage currently.

Went and playboated it about 2 weeks ago, it was low, but I can imagine that it's running at a healthy level now.

thanks chipper,  you just saved me 29 seconds.

I'll let you JBuck when I head out there.  It looks like a great spot to camp with lots of options for paddling
