I used to have a pair in storage the whole time I had the tan van.
Now I forsee needing a pair of Thule Stackers for my mini.
Can someone do me a huge 1 minut favor? If you have Thule Stackers on your rig, I'd like you to measure the width between the two aluminum verticle pieces. How wide is that gap? Try to be as accurate as you can.
The reason I want to know is I plan on installing a pvc pipe inbetween the aluminum bars or each stacker so it runs the length of the roof and spans the distance between the stackers. I need to know what diameter pvc I need to start designing around.
I want to say it should be 3-4" or so.
The first one to post the width between the two aluminum bars of a single stacker gets a can of beer.
Alternatively, you can show up at Split Rock tomorrow and I will measure it myself!

I have the old school style ones. Does that help or do you need measurements from the newer ones?

Not sure. No big deal I suppose it can wait till i see a pair at the take out. Just seems like a good place to install a black pvc or abs 4" dia 6-8' long pipe capped of course with a fill up cap in the front and a spigot in the rear. Might even install a shrader valve or similar so I can pressurize it- heat some water or let the sun do it and this dirt bag will have 4-5 gallons to shower w/.
fu*k it. I'm committing to full time "vandwellin" and really the shower and refridgeration. is all I am missing. The shower is by far a cheaper solution so most likely it will get resolved first.

Solar shower + PNW weather = stinky boater down by the river.
Check out lodi.com for some pretty inexpensive shower options.
I thought about a heat exchanger using the coolant hoses, for my future rig, but even with my fabrication skills, some of the lodi products would be faster easier, and cost effective to some crazy thing I would build.

With a little ingenuity, some of these could be sourced a builtpretty cheap.
Coleman stove,copper tubing, fittings, harbor freight volt transfer pump.
Steel pump up sprayer from Amazon, pressure release valve or even a vent valve open while heating, close to pump up pressure and a fire.
What could go wrong?

Folks in the overlanding scene have been working on this for decades and it'd be hard to beat their solutions if you want to engineer into your rig for year-round use.

A$495 = ~$362USD
You could probably rig something up by wrapping copper tubing around the hose that goes from your engine outlet to your radiator and rigging it to a 12 pump and reservoir - but by the time you finish everything you'd probably spend half the money and 10X the time.
Failing that - zodi makes a pretty good battery powered pump that you can just submerge in a bucket of hot water that costs around $50, and between that and a solar shower you'd be in pretty good shape.
Having said that - I like your tube idea for hot days!

Hey JP... sorry for delayed response, I measured my stackers, which are the older model (product no 520) with the tubular metal and they are just a hair over 3" inside the uprights.
