Didn't have a chance to check the levels tonight - but the snow berm is down to ~2 feet on the Alpental side, and it looks like folks were able to access the puti-in by driving up from the Denny Creek exit (might require high-clearance/4WD - but there were vehicles there).

If you hit up FITW - earn some easy river karma by posting the cup levels you encountered on this thread.

Here right now! 100% wood free. Duck n boof changed.

Cup full, medium high... No valley, lapping up near last peak.. Maybe 3 inches below at lowest lapping.

Any car can make the bottom, 4wd with clearance can make top. Shovel n 20 minutes could make access for all.

Yeah those were probably our footprints! We must have missed you by a few minutes. Just scouting the run tho. None of us have been on it yet.

Road 100% clear from both sides... they plowed it today.

Run 100% clean and I think Duck N Boof looks easier than ever.

Double undercut all the way to drop before rootball are cleanest i've ever seen.

Good FITW year, once level drops mortals like me will have a blast. I chickened out, why is scouting FITW worse than running it? Steep...

There was that new log in that one rapid... Island?...the one above fisherman's. The center boof has a log in it. You can go in the left channel now, a center channel just to the right of the log, or right.

Posted By: Travisimo
Date Posted: 03 May 2016 at 1:03pm
Yea, but that log is super not in play and visible from the top. Island Drop is the old name.

People have been calling it DuckNBoof, guess it's time for the old name to return. New left easier but less fun looking line.

Tonight it was just over the top of the cup with the gauge reading 530. Felt higher than the gauge reading when boating.

Help! I'm apparently terrible at guessing level on FITW...

Who has a good guess of level tonight @ dark?

Thinkin I'm gonna head up but don't want high, I'm guessing medium?

Thanks! If I'm right the rock will be covered this evening. I'm thinking warm days make it fluctuate a lot. Curious...

" I'm thinking warm days make it fluctuate a lot. Curious..."
yes ! this is known as diurnal pattern. most rivers in spring melt behave in the classic warming of the day rising at night dropping in morning..... Also if its hot and late in the day it could be higher up stream of where the gauge is located.

Yesterday the lower peak was covered, good run! Crew of 6!

I miss the old Island drop..

Ya, the old island drop boof was probably the coolest move on the run. Were you guys running right, or far left?

Posted By: outdoorjunkie88
Date Posted: 11 May 2016 at 9:29am
far left for me but the middle channel was clean and was run. Ill probably do that next time.

We went far left, been many years since I've gone far right.

Looks like right would go, hard to get a boof, looks shallow.

Left is easy now.

Right was good at higher flow, enough water there that you can arc into it and catch a good boof. Not as good as the ol duck and boof line, but still fun. As it gets lower the boof on the right isn't as good.

Anybody have a prediction for the level tomorrow? It's supposed to be pretty hot, but the SF gauge is predicting a low, steady flow.

Posted By: JoesKayak
Date Posted: 12 May 2016 at 10:38pm
Water was flowing over the cup this evening. The higher point of the Rock was out of the water.

Not a recent picture... but this is about what it looked like last night, level on gauge 380 rising to 420.

Took a look while driving by - cup full, lower side buried @ 2:30, gauge at 421.

Water flowing through cup, 1" of lower peak exposed @2:30. Flow felt longish for that cup level. Wonder if micro tribs below cup below cup being basically dry made the ruby a bit bonder than I remember at that cup level. Anyhow - there's your update.

Lapping at upper peak, cup full.

Posted By: Boofmove
Date Posted: 24 May 2016 at 11:53am
11:50 cup has water lapping into but is not flowing thru it. I scouted the drops and you could get down it but IMO it's too low for a drive up here.

Posted By: Travisimo
Date Posted: 24 May 2016 at 9:04pm
Too low??? That's the perfect level to run the namesake drop!

At the new "normal" levels it's scary.
Has anybody fallen into the wall this season? I'd like to hit it sometime after work low from top to bottom. Maybe tomorrow or Fri?

Water lapping into the cup tonight. Was up in source lake basin and can confirm that there's enough snow to juice it up again the next time we get some hot weather.

Bonus points for anyone coming back over the pass who can take a look and post levels. Almost certain to be too low tomorrow - but getting a level will set a baseline that'll help interpret the gauge data once the temps pick back up on Tues/Weds.

Water was still flowing through the cup at midday today.

Here's some footage from the quadcopter of 2 groups of 3 about 3 week back (Daniel et al, forgot everyone else's names). Medium/low. Mostly of #2.

http://mojodna.s3.amazonaws.com/FITW-1.mp4

If you just want to look at #1-3 without boaters, check this one out:

http://mojodna.s3.amazonaws.com/FITW-2.mp4

It's totally raw and involves some aerial branch dodging, but if you want to use this for anything, have at it.
