I'm betting that the best new kayaker run for you would be the green. I'm not really sure the best way to connect with folks in that area since I'm a 509er. You should look into going to the Green River cleanup as I bet you'd meet lots of folks there.

If there is a roll session in your area, this would be another way to hook up with newer paddlers. I saw your posts on the other thread about the Wenatchee. It's a good new paddler option if you make it out here.

yeah, actually I have 3 more paddlers going this sunday to the powerhouse. doing class II since we are all new to kayaking. One experience paddler coming too. and today I'm also going to the post on "sky lap". and probably doing the green river clean up, too, in order to meet more paddlers. Thanks

The Green River Clean up is a great idea! There will be many skill levels there.

You can also connect thru WKC (Washington Kayak Club) if you are looking for guaranteed beginner paddles with safety.

I met many of my paddling peeps here on PP. There are also several Facebook groups to help people connect.

I like heading out with beginners too! This week I am not able to paddle very much cause my mom is in town, but I'd be down in the future.

There's a great class 2 section on the Skykomish, with one 2+/3- rapid. You paddle from Skykomish (the town) to Baring. Just be sure you know the take out, there is class 5 down the river from Baring.

In reference to the Sky: Split rock to Big Eddy is a more challenging class 2+ section of the Sky (more than the Sky to Baring section). The main (Confluence to Split Rock) is great class 3, with Boulder Drop (big class 4), in the middle. It's portageable.

Thanks for the great info. hope to paddle with you some time soon.

Make sure you and all your beginner buddies have airbags in your boats. I would encourage you to hold off on running the classIII/IV section of the Sky until you've got a good amount of time on mellower class II/III. The Sky is a pretty challenging river especially at the ~4000CFS range even if you walk boulder drop.

PM me for contact info. My g/f is just learning to paddle and so I'm doing some basic rivers as well. What time are you all meeting up on Sunday?

Skyfall is the man.  Great guy, did well yesterday, couple swims, good self rescuer.  Hope to see him out again!

I'm definitely down for beginner runs! I live in Seattle and have random weekdays available.

Hey all you beginner types,

I live in Sammamish across the street from a lake and 20 min. from the powerhouse run and 30 min from the club stretch on the snoqualmie. If anyone wants to come out for a lake session or class 2 run to work on rolls, paddle strokes, general safety, and self rescue, etc. let me know. I will be doing those things weekday evenings as the days get longer and warmer. Possibly available weekends as well. I am a class 3-4 boater and have helped several peeps out with getting started.

Have fun,
Be safe!

Best beginner run around here is the S Fork Snoqualmie Twin Falls to 436th St. & the Middle Middle at 900cfs is hella easy too. You'll be fine...

Not a kayaker but I really want to do more white water SUP (stand up paddleboard). I've had a hard time convincing my flat water SUP buddys to join though. Would love to get in on some shuttles of the lower middle fork Snoqualmie (club stretch), lower Sky, or any other class 1-2+ runs around here. I'm off midweek around 3:30/4 and live in Duvall so would love to do some evening runs.

I've got extra inflatable's too if anyone wants to give it a go.

Anyone available tonight or tomorrow evening? Club stretch levels looking good right now.

Thanks!

I could do a Club Stretch or something similar Friday evening.

I also have a high tolerance for class IIish stuff like the South Fork Snoqualmie or Headworks on the Green. Don't get too distracted by recommended water levels. Headworks and the Lower Gorge can be run very, very low and tend to have decent small surfing with eddy service at low levels. The lower end for regulars is around 400cfs.

The Nisqually is also a pretty decent biginnerish run.

If you come to Monroe I would go from Ben Howard to Monroe with you, especially if you brought a paddle board for me to try!  Otherwise I would bring my canoe and maybe fish a little along the way. I can get away pretty easily during the day some times, weekday afternoons are hit and miss as I watch out kids after school.

Wilder - an evening run after work sounds great. I can't make anything until maybe next week, but will post up for hopefully next week.

While I kayak, I enjoy taking the iSUP out and have run a few local rivers. I believe a few others have posted here about doing the same.

When the levels get low later in the summer I hit the Powerhouse as much as I can - great place to practice the eddies.

Wilder - I live up the street from the Powerhouse and SUP it quite a bit. I'd be very game to do the Club stretch, class 2 section of the middle-middle, etc. I am currently not working so available to go frequently but already have plans for tonight. Kelly

Awesome! I'm going to do the club stretch after work today. Meeting a buddy at the lower takeout by the 428th bridge about 5pm.

I'd like to do Ben Howard to Monroe or maybe to the confluence sometime too.

I don't know of a good takeout below the confluence of the Sky and Snoqualmie for a long ways, I would love to learn about one!

You can park on old tester road on the south side of lord hill park and takeout under 522. It's a bit of a walk but not too bad.

Good to meet you last night Dale, thanks for shuttling with me!
