After getting skunked on the SF Skok. last weekend due to snow on the road, I definitely would need a couple shuttle vehicles with 4 wheel drive capabilities to commit. Im not sure if the Previa could make it to the put in if the snow is high enough? And Im certain my civic couldnt get us back up once we were through.

ahh darn... snow may be a problem ... the Previa is 4 wheel drive but more then a foot of snow and it starts to high center

the Olympic seems to have more snow then anyplace , espicialy  the east side around hood canal.... but im sure there is some snow at the Mashel too

I'm interested and I've got the 4wd....  could even put the 35" tires on if we think it'll get deep.

I'd be worried about getting stuck at the top with no other trucks to pull me out though, how much snow are we talking about?

Hard to say how much snow. I agree the OP has more snow and the Mashel is more of a "lowland" drainage. Not much in the way of spring runoff. Travis your rig would def. work. Chris if you have a foot of clearance I bet we could get back to Travis's rig, but it would be a gamble.

Im open, fellas.

I can't join you lucky dogs ... daddy duties, but I thought I would chime in since I was back there a few weeks ago.

First be prepared for the snow but I doubt it will be there in quantities. Second there is a new washout that you have to drive right after you pass that jeep parking zone, a 4x4 and a little clearance makes much less tricky, I don't know if the previa would get over it. It seems like the jeeps purposefully tear it up to make it more tricky but who knows, heck someone might have fixed it because there is a ton and I mean a ton of people out there in jeeps. You will have company and so while it is not a bad idea to have two 4x4 rigs, I would not sweat it because you will have no problem flagging down a winch equipped jeep to pull you out.

Have a blast!

Hey guys I definitely want to go. I'm a student at U Dub and new to town this fall. I've boated a bunch in the southern part of the state but not a whole lot up here (just tumwater and the sky). I have a Subaru so I'm not sure where that puts me as far as being able to drive. Let me know, I would be stoked to get out!

So how was it?

How was the drive in and the lil hike through the woods?
Whats the wood status?

Once was probably enough for me, but if its clean, definitely a quaint little run w/ some interesting drops...

A lot more ducking and dodging wood, but I only got out of my boat twice, including the massive log jam before the last class 4.
All 5 or 6 significant bedrock drops were clean. 800 cfs was as low as Id want to run it. Found the exact same put in as last year.

We got a late start, but managed to get down the run in under three hours. Really great day. I definitely will get on this one at least once a year.

at higher flows i think there may have been at least 2 additional portages. some of the wood was literally just duckable.

great rapids on a blue-bird day with an awesome crew!
