Alright Heathens (or those who just don't have family in the area and nothing else to do), who wants to do what next Tuesday?

I'm kinda locked to CL IV playboatable max, by boat and probably skill, bu there are options.

Last year we had eleven people braving the cold and wind up at the Sky, and it was a great time! Who knows what'll be in next week, but we might as well start the discussion.

Cheers!

Hey BIGWATER, keep me in mind for Moshpit Sunday through Tuesday. Planing some Westport board surfing Sat. if offshores hold as forecast, but if you think my haggard little car can make it to Moshpit, I'm in (I've got snow tires and will install, but if need not......).

Also, if melt elevation raises, what about Tilton?

Megspk, Paddlegirl, Cmd. Fun and others closer to Seattle, I hear Sky, Nooksack, and Sauk may be in, among others, if we get a little more rain and an increase in elevation for freeze.

As with all of this, I'm sure a bit of it will be last minute for many of us, myself especially: if the winds do indeed stay offshore and there is swell, I'll be at the coast as long as it goes. I'd love to hit Moshpit, though, and it's been nearly a year since I've ventured up to Index, so......

What to do with four days off, again. T-day was a stellar weekend, and looks like options are opening again for this coming opportunity!

Yippie!

Ok, so as for X-mas, looks like a Sky lap (or two?), unless things start melting off and running over the next few days. Sounds good, was good fun last year :)

Any word on road conditions up 2 by Index? I suspect it to all be ok, but might as well ask.

We were thinking about doing a Sky run at 11 and then if people are interested doing a pot luck get-together at our house in N. Kirkland later in the day for anyone who wants to stop by - no big turkey dinner, just an informal gathering and bring something you think someone (or a dog) would enjoy eating.
The Sky will be mostly mellow class III at that level except for Boulder Drop, which is an easy portage along the road, and if levels keep dropping it should also be a great first-time level for anyone who wants to try it for the first time.  We can scout it if anyone wants to.
Cabledrop is accessible but hard to park in, Split Rock is a bit snowy on the non-river side so we've been parking about 100 yds further up, it's OK on the river side but probably best if you have 4 wheel drive for pulling out.  Confluence parking is fine.
Sounds like people are between the Sky and the Tilton, if you're thinking of paddling on Christmas can you let us know if you're up for the Sky run and especially if you'd be up for the pot-luck afterwards?  That goes for the people who don't know us too, it's kind of an open invite.  As long as no one behaves like an ass, that is. :)  Kidding.  Thanks, and Merry Christmas.

OK, I'm really sorry, plans changed and we had to put the kibash on the pot luck thing.

We are still doing a Sky run at 11, hope to see you guys out there, and to anyone who's in the Class III range feel free to join, you can walk Boulder or give it a whirl if you want to.

Megspk, the level it will be at (prob around 1500) is a great first time level and there will be people on hand to lead/scoop up gear and paddlers. :) but also an easy portage for those who would rather not. Either way can scout first.

Lets change the meet time to 10:30 so Rob has enough time to get to his thing afterwards even if we mess around at Boulder for a bit. Does that work for everyone?

Works for me, then again I have no conflicts on time.

I'll chip in on gas if someone can meet me below the snow line and carpool me up into the hills. My car isn't that good for boating when there isn't snow to deal with, so.....anyone? I'll meet you wherever (I-405 somewhere, perhaps?) Thank you!

Actually, I guess I really only need to ask that if the parking areas are still a bit snowed in. Thanks for the update on that before, Sam. Anything change along Rt. 2 as far as that goes? Thanks!

We're still on for a Christmas day paddle, 10:30 at Split Rock or if that has too much snow then in the parking area that's around 100 yds further east on the non-river side of the road.  This is the forecast for Index:

Periods of rain and snow. Temps nearly steady in the low to mid 30s. Winds ESE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precip 90%. Snow accumulating 2 to 4 inches.

Just full disclosure. :)  Rob says it has not started snowing there yet.  Last year we did a blustery Christmas Day paddle and it was still fun.  Anyone who wants to come should just show up.

No, it was all good and I should not have posted that scary weather report because there was no snow and it was a great run!
