I found this photo going through some random stuff my father in law has:
It's titled:
Rock Island Rapids Columbia River - E.J. Evans

Pretty neat - I'd guess looking at the hills that this is right where Rock Island dam is now. Not trying to make an anti dam post, but the Columbia definitely used to be mighty. I bet there was some good boating to be had on it...

That's a cool peice of history you got there, you should frame that.

The water quality is amazing compared to it's current state.

Gorgeous photo, but it looks hand-colored so I think it would be hard to gauge water quality from this image.

Wow this means so much to me as I live only a few minutes from this place... I'm not totally anti-dam either, but do we really need to dam every fricking river?

Not to be the downer, but with societal trends it will be required to dam (and exploit every other energy tap that the public cannot harness readily themselves, all in the name of profit though under the guise of betterment to society).

It used to be that people should have as many children as possible due to both high infant mortality rates and shorter life time expectancy. Now, even having a solid two children per couple is overwhelming.
