I am pretty sure a friend of mine ran it when the EF Lewis was at 3k, and the EF is at 2600 right now. Probably good to go.

For the Danimal, that is. I heard it fattens up quite a bit in there with some aqua. Might be a good idea to get some beta on a few spots that probably get stomp'n.

This year's race was above 1000. Eight people participated in the mass start. The night before I'm pretty sure the gauge was above 1500.
Quite pushy, with some bad holes. Prelude to Terminator on the right was a sticky spot. Kahuna was intimidating but went well for everyone.
At 2k I would take my time and scout a good bit. I imagine there would be some portages. Not a reason not to put on if you're prepared for some big water.

Shots of Kris doing it at 30 inches above the unit, old gauging system.

That story has been around a while and is an great read. Brett and I met the author, Jim Pytel, a number of years back when we camped out at Rodeo Hole on the Salmon for a long 4th of July weekend. Still one of the best trips I've ever had. Warm water, fun paddlers, a great feature and Brett taught me how to loop that weekend so I was super stoked. Jim was fun to paddle and camp with and obviously has a great sense of humor. Take the time to read the article, you'll like it.
