Welcome to the discussion thread for the 2011 PP Ball. This year were going to do things more low key like we did in the first few years. That means no overboard planning and no massive organization effort. Just a bunch of friends and fun.

Just like the past few years were going to be holding the event over at Phil's River Front Orchard outside Dryden WA.

This year were going to have several events but they are going to be free form. That means they might or might not be offically timed or judged. The main focus is to hang out with friends, meet new folks and enjoy the fine water found in this area, one of the NW hot spots for this time frame.

Please use this thread to ask questions, get stoked or share the stoke. Other threads you might or might not be interested in are:

For anyone that missed the Ball over the last few years this event is a great time to hang out and chill but there is another great reason to go. I have been to plenty of festivals and conventions but not many are out there where everyone walks away with good gear. Yea you can get stickers and brochures but not many will send you home with hats, shirts, and real quality gear. Over the last 2 years not only did just about every competitor get something good, anyone that was around on Sunday for the final Gear Toss walked away with more - not to mention all the freebies at the registration area.

So here are a 7 reasons you should consider coming this year.
1. Have a good time with your friends.
2. Meet new friends that you can have more good times with.
3. Paddle Amazing whitewater in the best weather to water level ratios!
4. Have fun doing your best in the events that you like
5. See how close you can get to the fire without burning your eyebrows off
6. Go primal chasing glowsticks downriver at night!
7. Try the latest boats out from the free demo Zone!

The Hop Off is ON.

Our side event this year is going to be a hit. WHY? Well beside the fact that most paddlers love cold suds, we have two Paddler Favorite breweries that have already confirmed donations this year. So far New Belgium Brewing & Deschutes have confirmed donations. Were still working on a few others to round off the taste test. Same fun, new format. This year it is going to be a blind taste test. Numbered Kegs and Numbered Cards. If you guess all the Taps right you win gear . That simple!

The list of Gear continues to grow: added WRSI Helmet, Jacks Plastic Gear and more... Gonna have to come out to see it all. There is no reason that every person out there does not walk away with goods!

Hey what's up with the demo zone? I want to demo some creekers.

Posted By: James
Date Posted: 17 May 2011 at 1:21pm
No demo zone this year. We did that one year and it was too much work to keep track of it and haul / lock all the boats up. If a shop wanted to bring some out and manage the process on their own - welcome and go for it, but were not going to do it.

On a side note, flows are looking pretty juicy for the weekend!

Thanks, I think I got it programed in. I may be coming over Friday night after dark (most likely before dark though), so keep the fire burning so I can find the place!

Most definitely are!  I won't be getting out there till Saturday afternoon sometime, though.  Have a gig in Seattle Friday night.  Gotta make the trip back to tri-town and switch out the bass gear for the PP Ball setup!

Can't wait for the BALL!  Yes, I am finally coming back out of the woodwork.  Shoulder seems to be feeling better, although I think Icicle is out for me this year.  Lookin' forward to seein' everyone again and doin' a lot of boatin' and partyin'!  Appletts and Cotlets - woohooo!  Hopefully no chasing phantom rafts down past the takeout and hitchihiking back at 1am this year...

Please note we have updated the Map.

I would encourage everyone to take a look at it this year, and show up early to claim the prime camping spots. This year we had to slender down the area we are camping in to prevent disruption to the neighbors so we are encouraging camping in the orchards, and closer to the actual fire area. The areas are well detailed on the map link.

Also please watch out for Poison Oak, the season is just starting but it is important to be aware of.

Hey All!

I was visiting from the Southeast and had a great time paddling with some of you. I had a great time, but do have a question. I got a T-shirt, but the size was a little small for a Large. Are there any T-shirts left? I would like to purchase an Extra Large.

If you ever find yourself in the Atlanta Area look me up, or anyone fromt the Atlanta Whitewater Club!

Thanks.
