Does anyone know if these newer versions of waterproof cameras have GPS units on them?

I think it would be radical to have the tie the image to a Rivers mapplet ... So essintially if you upload a image it would automatically associate to the feature and run based on the GPS. http://professorpaddle.com/map/rivermap.asp?riverid=627&zoom=13 - Check out this mapplet to get an idea of whats I speak of.

I haven't heard of cameras with built in GPS (except maybe the iphone), but I've heard that you set the time on your camera and GPS the same, and then after the run you can use a program on the comp or manually connect them to a map.

theres a program that by brother in law uses but I can't remember the name..

i know that there are SD GPS capable cards but you have to have a camera that supports them like the http://gadgetwise.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/01/22/sony-adds-gps-and-sd-card-support/ - sony's

I
was just not sure if there were any waterproof ones that worked or not. Sure would be sweet

Wow!  The XP-30 looks like a hell of a lot of camera for the money ($240 on Amazon, but not yet available.)  5X optical zoom, 14.2 megapixel, HD video, GPS, waterproof to 5 meters w/in 120 minutes...  I like the green or orange metallic color, too, so you won't lose it if you set it down in a hurry to hurl a throwbag.

If you're looking for something to haul around in your PFD, this seems like the perfect boater's camera.  My old Optio WP30 is looking extremely outdated by comparison.

The predecessor to this which shares many of the same features, the XP10, got hammered in reviews over at Amazon, as many 1 star as 5 star reviews. I haven't owned one but have been looking at a lot of waterproof cameras and their reviews lately and getting that many bad reviews is unusual.

The XP30 may be significantly improved, but it hasn't been released yet- hard to know what's up.
