This is the 2010 BD Carnage Asada discussion thread. Please post any questions below.

Remember the actual Trip Details are located on the 2010 BD Carnage Asada | Trip Page

The date is set for August 14th, 2010. Time is 11. What to bring: 1. Your self 2. Some type of suitable river craft. 3. Something to contribute to the potluck food / libations. Who can come: 1. EVERYONE. 2. Hungry / thirsty people. Now the why: 1. We will have a pseudo slalom course set up in the rapid. 2. James makes the bestest Carna Asada. 3. A great chance to get together and be on the river we love. 4. People will be making multiple laps down BD, if you have it on your tick list, show up, the flows should be good for personal FD's and there will be lots of help. 5. Did I mention Jame's food? Who is in? Who is bringing what?

I will take care of the slalom markers.
But help setting them will be appreciated. I opted for 2 colors. The 'cool' folks must pass all within 2 feet, us sucka's only pass the greens.
2 difficulties? Still in the planning stage so pipe up if you have an opinion.
I will bring my BBQ, cooler, camera, inflatable crocodile.
A lot of help is needed and VERY appreciated, if your coming, and stoked, lets get a list going.
Sure?

More water, please.

The slalom markers are coming along nicely.

Now who all is coming? Can someone bring a raft? Tandem IK? Tandem hard shell?

There has been a lot of interest by people that want to come but are not comfortable running BD alone. I thought we could include everyone with a few tandems / rafts. Good safety!
Thoughts?

I got the grill and some fixin's ... might not be quite as amazing as last year but well see what we can do.

Also remember this event is about Carnage and Brawling with the Boulder. So while it is a great time to get out and run the rapid, I am going to watch some spills and thrills.

For all you first timers out there you have two significant events to one up.
1. First and Foremost - The flying Fish - Highlight of the day 4 sure!

2. Of course would be the run through boulder on an inner tube..

Well can you top that... I think so, and I look forward to seeing it! Bring your tubes and water wings because this year the flow is low but the carne will be high!!!!

There will be a prize for the most creative craft that goes down the drop. All you have to do is show up and we will take a photo. Then I will create a thread on the following monday and the team/person with the most votes will win.

Yeah Yeah - Chair Lift is installed with racks for any size kayak!
No fee for the ride, you just need really strong paddle strokes to attain back up BD.

Craft will be defined as: a mode of transport down the Boulder Drop rapid that meets these requirements.

1. Floats or Provides enough flotation to keep 62.3% of your body out of the water
2. Is powered in some method to provide limited or functional navigation
3. Must be capable of transporting the person(s) and 1 six pack of beverages (note more beverage capacity will most likely increase the probability of high voting)
4. Must contain personal construction that is critical to structural integrity (ie no kayaks with a happy face painted on)

Okay, I'm confused. Is this contest a "slalom" of some sort, or simply a test of what kind of odd craft you can get through the rapid? If some portion of it is slalom, will it be timed? Is it open to "regular" kayaks?

The slalom markers are not working out according to my master plan. I will continue to try to get them rigged up, but no promises on the course.
Carnage Asada is all about chilling on the side of BD with fellow boaters, eating and doing what ever comes to mind.
See you all tomorrow!

Looks like you guys were having a great time out there. I was planning on joining you - but this was the first chance that a buddy and I had to take our wives on a trip down the Sky so we had to give that priority.

Logged PFD's in a Duo and an IK so I sort of felt like I was joining in even though we were just passing through....
