It is looking like the 14th of August so far. That should work well for lower flows and sunny skies.
Is there any interest in organizing some kind of semi formal events?
Races through BD?
Eddy catching contests?

I like the idea of Eddy Catching contests. Likely I won't be able to make it. I'll be running Livestock down the W/S. But the Eddy Catching contests sounds fun- like an old fasion "Beer Slalom".... anyone around here been paddling long enough to remember those?

I also think that some sort of race through BD that involves an eddy-catching, slalom-esque component would be a lot of fun. I've heard of folks setting up courses for this sort of event by making some quicky-buoy type things (~20lb test fishing line, milk jug, 8oz weight) that folks have to manuever around in addition to catching key eddies. Sounds much more appealing and fun for all than a flat-out downriver race. BD has a gazillion good eddies at that time of year and is fairly forgiving - so it sounds like a pretty ideal venue.

I like the idea of having a course through BD.
I will get to work on some type of marker buoy, 2 different colors & they have to be passed on the right or left side depending on the color?
I'll find an areal view of BD and start on a gate layout.
This is going to be daum fun!

Another thought is to have paddlers start with a BB gun and shoot cans off rocks, then the spectators can be involved by dodging the strays...

Does anyone have a good aerial image of BD. The one on Google Earth is at pretty high flows. I would like one that is under 2k?
Anyone?
