Topic: Anybody doing SUP on rivers in Western WA? Posted: 08 Mar 2010 at 11:39pm |
If so, and you're confident with your skills in up to class 2, I'm seeking someone to photograph to do basic manuevers.
I'm writing a book on stand up paddling to include all aspects of the sport including river for Mountaineers Books in Seattle. My deadline is 3/22. So ASAP! Weekdays are great as well.
Shots would include:
- ferrying
- peeling in/out of eddies (and using eddies for rest)
- running a rapid
- surfing a wave if available.
Give me a holler if interested. rob@robcasey.net

Fiddleyak has a budding interest in the SUP action on easy whitewater.
Sam Drevo has (attempted to) run Sunset Falls on the E. Frk Lewis.
an that's about all I know about locals wanting to tear up the sup.
It's a bit to far of a stray from "kayaking" for me personally. Yeah, it's part of the larger scope of "paddling sports". Anyway, those are two folks you could contact.

Hey Rob, you might try Jesse Becker in Hood River. I know there are other Hood rats SUPing, but he's one I know of. I think Christie Glissmeyer is another.

Rob, give Ben a call. He was able to style the play run on the Wenatchee this weekend on his SUPB.

"Style" is a pretty generous description of yesterday's events, but I guess I was able to make it down the river!
I'm looking forward to checking out some more sections of rivers near Seattle...I'll probably do the Powerhouse soon. I doubt I have the technique (or the equipment) to be worthy of an SUP book, but if you can't find anyone else hit me up.
