Registration for the Skykomish Downriver Race's three events is now open.
I want to encourage you to register early, now even. Not only will you save a whole $5 off the total cost, but it will help us with some vital information, such as how many to cook for and insurance stuff.
We tried to find the balance between keeping the event super cheap, and raising some money for the effort to delicately develop and protect Heybrook Ridge. (If cost is an eliminating factor, please, just let me know and we'll figure something out).
Please go to www.paddlermagazine.com and click on the story: "A Kayak Race in August?" That story contains three links. One is a detailed description of the event. Another is the registration form, which you can write on, print and fax back to the Paddler office. The third is a map of the course with mileage and leg lengths. A fourth—the liability waiver—will appear shortly. So please check the site weekly or so to see if the waiver has been posted.
Just so you know, Jackson Kayak has agreed to lend us five Dynamic Duos for the tandem race. And Landis Arnold, from Prijon, is trying to figure out how to lend us some TopoDuos.
I'm also working with several manufacturers and reps, including Tony Z from DragoRossi, Dagger, Wave Sport, etc, to lend us some longboats for the Ironman division. If any of you have TopoDuos that you aren't planning on using for the race or longboats (11- 13-feet), do you think you could lend those out? I know some of our competitors would really appreciate it.
So remember: go to www.paddlermagazine.com and click on the "A Kayak Race in August?" story, which is located on the rotating feature section of the website's front page.
Any questions, e-mail me at christian@paddlermagazine.com, or post them on professorpaddle.com.
Thanks so much and I can't wait to see you all there. It's going to be awesome. www.paddlermagazine.com
Catch your eddies,
Christian

I'm in thanks for getting this going!

I'm planning on duking it out for dead last - so I'm calling out the big guns and warning them to work on their passive drifting down the flats, and sustained-hydration-break-in-eddy games if they want to hang.

Almost snagged dead last in the Wells River Rumble in Vermont last year after taking a paddle to the face, but couldn't convince the safety boater to pass me..
