OK, we've talked about it for long enough.  It is more or less settled .. and tentatively set in stone-cold stone.

We are very reasonably CERTAIN ...

That the First (Possibly) Annual Robe Canyon Downriver Endurance Race will be held on:
the weekend of April 26

I'm pretty sure there's a couple people on this forum that paddle Robe, so this is just to get that date onto people's calendars & to encourage to form teams &/or get involved. There are still plenty of wrinkles to iron out, but for now, here are some details:

  • Begins at River-right eddy above "Tunnel Rapid"
  • Ends at River-left beach below "Conversation"
  • Teams of 2
  • Mandatory Portage at "Landslide"
  • It will be a staggered start, not head-to-head.  This will be a long, grueling race, so safety is the top priority.
Let's rally around this!  Please help spread the word. We need safety volunteers who can double as media-capturers. There are two easy hike-in options for significant others & spectators, one at the start of the canyon & one at the finish line. We could do a winner-take-all cash purse, or we could skip that. (I'm currently in favor of braggin' rights y nada mas, instead of mixing money into it.)  I'll prolly bring a keg for festivities, or else we can take it to a proper establishment ... like I said, there are still plenty of things to sort out.  As details are solidified & teams formed, updates will be posted on The Range Life (http://TheRangeLife.com)

Please email me if you:
a. Want to register your team
b. Want to volunteer
c. Have questions or suggestions

thanks,
tg

I'm up for volunteering:
--safety boating if it's under 5.5, shore-based saftey otherwise. Probably more usefull w/ a throw bag than a camera. It's one or the other. I don't mix setting safety with media capture.
