Hello newtobin,

I'm new to this part of the state and would love to join you on Saturday for this run.

Are you familiar with this section of the river ?

I'm would qualify myself as an intermediate level boater (my roll works most of the time but , but sadly is far from bomb-proof).  And so at least for my first time down I would like to go with someone familiar with the rapids.

Roj.

Roj,
Of course you are welcome, its a great run.  I am planning on something in the III range on Saturday as a theropy run for my shoulder, please feel free to join.

Now the bad news,  the green fell out,  so option 1. Lower Sky (Split to Big Eddy)
2. Nisqually to the Yelm Hydro Plant.
I vote for the Sky, but it can be majority rules.  If my shoulder is feeling good after the lower I will probably burn a lap on the main.

The class lll drop is over an old fish weir.  It is really straight forward.  The river following this drop is flat, so you have plenty of space to collect yourself if you have any problems.  The rest of the run is class ll at best.  Make sure to stop at the pipeline wave.  It is a nice little wave with eddy service.  As for the general flow as long as it is above 600cfs it is fine.

There is a guard gate on headworks road, if that is where you were.  You now have to stop in and show your ID and car insurance.  They will give you a boater access pass and let you in.  You are required to follow the gravel road on the left once you have cleared the guard shack.
