I don't think hugo threatens our community ... only because this is the first I have heard of banning him. Quite a few people have called inquiring and trying to get me to give hints or the personal details of who it is... details I don't really have.. but this is the first talk of banning.

I am not hear to make decisions for the community, just to execute what I think the community is requesting or voicing. If folks want hugo banned voice up. Heres your place.

I have to retract my position on banning on Prof Paddle. The cure would be worse than the disease. Ignoring assholes is all well and good, but I was wrong to argue in favor of stronger measures like banning.

Thanks OB.  JMK was a pretty sharp guy.  Here's another great quote, "It is better to be roughly right than precisely wrong."

I was at the jackson plant when the boat came out.  Like most people who are pretty devout creekers I thought the same thing as the guy slammin the boat on this thread.  I sat down with the boys at the Jackson Ranch and said, " ERIC, what the hell is this thing". his answer was pretty funny. "Not for you clown.........." was the answer. I said "what".  "Its not for you ya big bozo,  you can creek really well.  Its a transition boat, from someone going from flat hull to creeking.  Play to river running.  It needed to move like a playboat but be uneventful, on the river run. "  My reply was who wants uneventful.  En_RIca's  answer was, they guy learning to get down the river without getting his ass whipped.

Personally
I have been paddling the Rocker and really was hoping for a new creek boat for me to use.  I love the rocker and when it all hits the fan (and it has) IT pulls me through without a hitch.  I looked at the new boat a bit selfishly.  I thought "great another crap creekboat too".  i was wrong and so is whatever his name is on this post too.  As we get more experiance and paddle more we forget what it was like to make it down without makign a big floating yard sale of all our junk.  It made me look back, and to be honest I really sucked at swimming and hated people cleaning my gear up out of the river too.

So what in gods name is the hero for?  Well its for the guys that are in between.  you know who they are or more likely you don't.  The boys paddling river run and play that want to move from class 2 to class 3 3plus and even 4.  For people who just want to have an uneventfull day on the river.  Say I made it when they get to the bottom.  Or even feel like they could make some mistakes and still learn.  Ya, I was all fired up about having a new creek boat 2 be sure.  who dosn't like havin a bunch to choose from. but the end of the day there are more people just looking to have fun, surf and get down the river than huck waterfalls on the RYAN or getting it on on the Callahan.
