Trips FAQ

Q: Why post a Trip instead of just a Post?
A: If you would like to use the features of the Trip Planner you need to post a trip. If you would like to lead a group post a Trip. If you just want to gauge interest just make a post. Only post a trip if you are sure it is going to happen other than the possibility of not having folks to go with. IE don't post a trip if there is a 50/50 chance you might have to bail.

Q:
Why is there a Trip Planner?
A: To allow members to create trips that show river levels, hold details about the trip and allow members to join and leave the trip. The trip tool also sends out emails to the trip planner with Lists of people that are going and it logs flows before and after your trip so you can see what the water levels were like while you were out.

Q: How do you post Trips?
A: Just click the Trips Tab and then the "
Create a Trip" link.

Q: How can I find Trips?
A: All of the trips are listed on the Calendar Page, the next 10 trips are listed on the homepage and all upcoming trips are listed on the Trips Page
.

Q: Who is allowed to Post Trips?
A: Any member! But if you abuse it you will loose it! Don't Lead Trips down runs you are not able to handle.

Q:
Who is allowed to Join Trips?
A:
Any member! But just like posting trips, if you can't handle the run. Don't join. Ask first and find out if it is a good idea. Communicate!

Q: Can you cancel a Trip?
A:
Only the Trip Leader can cancel the trip. If a trip is canceled email's are sent to all members who have joined the trip and a copy is sent to the Trip Leader.

Q: Can you change a Trip's Details after you create it?
A:
Only the Trip Leader can edit the trip. At the bottom of the form to edit a trip you may also select to notify all members who have joined of the changes. This is recommended.

Q: What is a private trip?
A:
A private trip is when the leader chooses to Password protect the trip only allowing members that have the password to join. It is very easy to create a buddy list and then send the password to all friends in a list. Then only your friends can join and participate. This is a great tool for runs where Group Size is limited or where difficulty is questionable. Going to the Skook... might want to make it private!
