This is the Sky Creakin' discussion thread. Please post any questions below.

Remember the actual Trip Details are located on the Sky Creakin' | Trip Page

Now that the snow is melting is time to break out the creak boat and get yer creakin' on! Tentative plan is the Foss, but this will depend on water levels. I'll update this trip as we get closer to the weekend.

The time's TBD at this point, but I think earlier is better than later.

I agree, earlier is better... I like to scout so I need lots of time.

If the Sky continues to drop as predicted,

then the Foss will have less than 400cfs in it Sunday.  Should we start talking about the back-up plan?

If you guys are heading to TT I'm in, but I'll pass on the Foss.  You'll want 5G or lower off pure snow melt for the TT, which it looks like we just might get.

I don't know much about Top Tye, but I get the impression that it is a bit more than I want to bite off.  I might be into Lower Tye, the Miller, or Rapid, anyone know much about these runs.

Ok, let's do this. We'll meet at 10:00 at Split Rock then drive up and look at levels. These upper drainage creeks are not 100% correlated with the Goldbar gauge, so let's just go take a peak. Between the Rapid, Foss, Miller and Tye something will be in. Worst comes to worst we drive across the pass and hit Icicle/Peshastin/whatever. I'll update the trip. See you 10:00 at split rock.

As far as the TT goes putting in at Monkey Cage or even putting in above the Spout but not actually running the Spout itself makes for a pretty straightforward run.  Everything portageable, everything scoutable.

Sounds like a good plan, unless I get someone to committ to FITW I'll see you guys at Spitrock.

I may be game for this trip...I'd be up for everything I've seen discussed, save the top tye.  If the "V" has a dot and some numbers behind it, then no-go for me...

My inclination is NOT to tackle any serious class V like the Top Tye UNLESS we have someone who knows the lines and lower levels. I'm happy to shuttle bunny for others more adventerous, and even wave a throw bag around for good luck when you run Alpine Falls!

Don't take this is me trying to steer anyone any certain way, people should do what theyr'e comfortable doing.  The + on the back of the V refers to two drops: Crack in the Earth and Alpine.  Both get done plenty but are certainly not standard for most parties.  The V applies to Paranoia and the Spout.  Both of these are easy to opt out of.  The rest of the run is IV+ below 5000 cfs on pure snowmelt.  Mix a little rain in there and you can run it higher.

It is approximately equal in difficulty to CC Stilly or Lewis (although the character is different) if you opt out of Spout, CITE, Alpine.

Again, not trying to change minds just trying to set the record straight.  If anyone does want to go for the TT on Sun I'm happy to head up there (as I can't make it to the Eastside this weekend).

Yo Jeff,

Thanks for the clarification. I haven't run the Top Tye since I got a real creek boat (it's really interesting in an Overflow) so I'd love to take another crack at it. If you know the lines I'm down.

I do know the lines and I'd be happy to head up there.  Usually we're moving fast but I wouldn't mind taking it nice and slow for a change.

Rock on. Ok, let's call the Top Tye our first choice. I reserve the right to shuttle-bunny if I don't like the levels, but in that case some other creeks will be in. See you at Split Rock.

hey Bryon -
If your sites are set on TopTye, count me in.  I need an excuse to try out my shiny new rescue vest.  Meet at split rock?

Ah crap - I'm out.  Chalk one up to flake factor on my part.  I forgot what Sunday was.  What kind of sadistic SOB invents a major guilt-driven holiday and then puts it on a weekend right in the middle of kayak season? Damn you Hallmark!

Abort mission... Abort mission...

We lost the levels anyway.  They revised the forecast to be slightly higher then current... 6200 on snowmelt is a little burly.

I'll probably revert to my FITW plan if I can find anyone not tied down with maternal obligations.

Yeah, fortunately levels don't look to be coming down as much as we'd thought. Ok, how about the Rapid?
