Topic: qp 2007 Annual Ball Posted: 29 Jan 2007 at 12:37pm |
It is now time to start planning for the 2007 Professor Paddle Ball.
May 18th- May 20th
Unlike last year we have a few set plans going into this event so we
can make more solid events knowing we will have a rally poing and base
camp for operations.
This year we have reserved the Bridge Creek Group Campground Site. This
site can accomodate up to 100 people and we should be well under that
limit for the over night portions.
This Group Site will function as our Operations Center for the weekend
Ball. I will be onsite Friday Morning getting setup. I hope to be in
location by 9am, and we must be wrapped up and finished by 2pm on Suday
Afternoon.
First lets discuss all of the events or activities that we want to do.
Here is what I have so far as a Must.
1. Cook Off of Some Sort
2. Down River Race thats fun and low key like skirtless or something
3. Freestyle Rodeo
4. Midnight Wenatchee Run
5. Morning Warmups on Lower Icicle
Granted that does not leave us a whole lot of time, so lets hear the
runs you want to do this weekend, and any other activities. Keep in
mind that the wenatchee at Peshastin should be right around 14k. So
Upper Icicle Runs and Other Icicle Stuff will be thumping... make sure
you bring those playboats!!!

I can't wait.
Is Lidia coming this year James, if so maybe she can hang with my wife. Speaking of that, she volunteered to make everyone breakfast, I don't think she knows what she is getting into.

Lydia is most certainly going to be there and I am guessing that she
will not volunteer for any food preperation, but she will most
certainly participate in the food consumption. That seems to be a trend
for most folks... well except for Leif.. That wirely little guy needs
to stop cooking so much and start eating more... put some meat on those
bones dude...you need some energy for those roll attempts!!! Muahahha

I'll be bringing out a couple of dutch ovens to cook up some evening snacks. Won't be making dinner for everyone, but I might be able to make enough dessert for a good part of the crew.

How about a potluck breakfast one morning?? I'll bring bisquits and gravy to feed 20.
James, did you kick in the money for the site? or is a pay when we are there? The only other idea I had, is since, I am not going ot compete in the cook off. ( Way more fun to eat!!!)) How about the people that dont cook, bring some kinda snaky treat/ food stuff??
I think the down river race should be done with rafting paddles!! C1 stylin!!

Sure?

hey that's awesome that Tobin wants to bring bisquits and gravy to feed everyone but what about my Subaru wagon that you backed into with your white Isuzu Trooper and still have not paid to fix yet? This happened in Nov. and you still have not paid to have it fixed yet? How about you fix my car door before buying bisquits and gravy for everyone! That's pretty mean to leave a girl hangin' like that.

As POW wrangler said best.... MmmMm the smell of dirty laundry.... but I want to stick to the topic on this one.
Please lets keep this thread clean and on topic this after all a pretty important topic.
Perhaps a PM or seperate thread is in order. Something like ... The Clothes Line a place to air your stanky gear.
Forget I said that and please no responses about it... Keep this thread back on topic...
See jen.. you even got me off topic and I am writing about staying on Topic.
This is about the PP2007 Party and all the fun we will have.
Wahoo... lets get back to planning!!!

Yeah, it really sucks when some chump hijacks your thread, eh James?
But, since you would never pull a lame stunt like that, your threads shouldn't have to suffer that fate.
How many have experianced hijacked threads lately? Let's get a show of hands.....
Were you the hijacker, the hijackee, or just an innocent bystander?

Rad ... I am with you on that one...
Are there any suggestions on what we should have for the cook off contest this year? Chili was last year and I suppose we could keep it the same or change it up...
BYOB or should we get a few Kegs that everyone chips in on?

I am looking forward to the cook off, but we do need to pick the category so that I can prepare. Rick was trash talking a few weeks ago on the sky...seems he is quite sure he will win again...

Well I have some good news and some bad news....
The good news is that our Midnight Run is going to be pretty dang wild....
The bad news is that our Midnight run is going to be pretty dang Dark!
Here is a link to the Month of May's Lunar Stages
So its looking like were going to start with some normal runs on Friday
and then Friday night we will have a Pre Party Opener. The purpose of
the Pre Party Opener is to more or less remove some of the wild child
from the crazy guys before the larger populus shows up on Sat.
Hopefully with this technique Sat will become more manageble..
Ok who am I kidding...I just want to party every night I am out
there!!!! So the Pre Party Opener is only really for those that feel
they have enough internal party stamina to last 72 hours and want to
give a try at it.
Sat Morning we will do the normal wake up and rally to different
rivers. Unlike last year I don't think we will pre-plan the runs. Well
just leave that up to the morning of. Thoughts and suggestions on that?
The only run we will plan should be the Down River Wild Race ..
Skirtless with C1 Paddles, and you have to go down with a full 12
pack and they must be empty by Cashmere... and no cans can get
away! We could have a 6 pack class for novices too. Idea's ...
Suggestions? And yes Leif , Root Beer will work too!, but you might
have a wicked sugar rush at the take out!

Either or... I would personally vote for the Lower Icicle just because
it would be funner and have more action. The length would be perfect
too!

I don't think my DR boat would survive a lower icicle run.

I'm up for either, but I think I want my skirt on lower Icicle. I'm still up for C1 though!
