Access to Middle and Lower Matheny was OK on thanksgiving weekend.
To access the upper you must hike 2.5 miles.

Bill,
These lower sections of the Humtulips.... are they part of the East Fork or West Fork?
I've been trying to get a grasp on all the different runs.  Seems this one river has four or five.  Narrows, Gorge, Falls section, ect.   Which one is the start for the weekend?

Because theres been trouble with the gate at the take out for the gorge run, we are going to combine the Falls and the gorge run.
We will start where we usually camp at the take out for the narrows. This makes for a thirteen to fourteen mile day. This is the East Fork.

Are you guys going on your OP adventure this coming weekend?? I love the Narrows run and I would love to run the others on the East Fork. A stop at Perfection is fun too! I am also familiar with Matheny Creek from the just below the road washout down. I've bee wanting to hike up to the "pool drop heaven" for a long time. I would be super psyched to make a movement to the Penninsula this weekend....

So long as levels stay up, I am strongly considering this weekend to explore some
SW Oly rivers.  At least the temps will be warmer nearer the coast.

So to confirm.  10 am Sat morning at the bridge crossing over Donkey Creek ?  or the road junction FR22 with 101?

Plans for Sat?  ANY one got Monday free as well?

I was hoping to scout the West fork gorge on the Hump (1m of IV?) and Matheny stuff.

Sam's river would be killer, but seems access issues on to the Queets would limit takeout options.

IS THERE any good coastal beach surfing along hwy 101 north of Queets?
Swells ball park around 6-8' this weekend.  Mmm brrr chilly but then it's surfing.

Meetig time 10 am Sat. Donkey Creek Road and Hwy 101 3.6 miles north of where the humptualips crosses Hwy 101.
Other river sections will be chosen based on the group that shows.
If you want to boat the Sams its a three to four mile hike. I hiked in two weeks ago.

Bill,
fyi
I won't be attending this weekend.  Cold temps have reduced my enthusiasm level.  Thanks for sharing about the trip.  Have a good time!

Yes we paddled the Narrows one day then then the Falls and the Gorge sections the same day.
We also are working on a tree that is blocking a spot where we camp.
I will be planning another trip to finish off out tree work and paddle.
We had a great weekend. I usually ask everyone to bring some wood for a fire. Its to keep the wet wood burning.
as soon as I come up with a weekend I wiil post another trip.

Bill PS. One of our group will be posting a few pictures of our weekend.

Were the runs free of wood? I am especially curious about the Falls and Gorge sections as I haven't yet run them. I went to the Upper upper Wind and it was really cool class 3,3+.....
