Hey James,
Minor suggestion for the trip scheduler.  I had this trip me up (no pun intended) and have seen others tripped up by this as well.  Your default date for the trip is 1900.  If you forget to enter a date, that means that the trip took place in the past and apparently never shows up as a trip in the "upcoming trips" section.  This makes it hard for the trip initiator to change the date and, of course, any potential other paddlers from finding it.

Now then, I don't know what the best default is, but I think a future imaginary date is better.  This could create a different type of problem but I suspect defaulting to a date some time out will allow people to see their error and then correct it.

Just noticed yet another 1/1/1900 date for a trip for tomorrow.  Won't show in the trip scheduler and only in the trips thread (with an incorrect date, of course).

There has to be a better default here...
