Topic: Sat., easy Nisqually play run Posted: 28 Feb 2006 at 4:19pm |
Would like to run the Nisqually Saturday morning. Should be at a good play level with the rain this week. It will be a good workout anyway. Plus I need to get some photos of the rapids.

Hey what's the deal with Lagrand canyon? you said it was "off limits" on that other Nissqually thread.

Oh man. I was looking forward to trying something different. Unfortunately, I will be in Vancouver all weekend. Can we plan this for another weekend as well?

The LaGrand gorge on the Nisqually is a couple of miles of class V that has impossible access (unless you like to repel and break federal laws), but has had some planned and permitted releases in the past with the AWA (see thier website for a possible description). I have been in the canyon before, actually alot when I was younger, on foot but never boated it. 450 foot shear rock walls, it's very impressive. As far as the Class III Nisqually run, I will be doing it again and will always enjoy running this stretch of river so guys watch for my posts or post a trip and I'll try and be there.

Well, you may need use deodorant to REPEL the smell of sweat after standing on the edge of one of those 450ft cliff walls and then rappeling down.

yes indeed. you may also need deoderant after fleeing the FEDS at the take out.
well enough of this fantasy--back to the legal class III stuff:
Dave, MIRACULOUSLY my work schedule changed, and now I'm paddling Saturday.
so I may be into the Nisqually. are you going regardless? I'm torn
because I'd like to maybe checkout the E Frk of the Lewis, or Canyon
Creek of said river. I don't know what I'm doing yet. Feel free to call
me

I'm going alone or with company, @ 10am Mckenna river park putin near Stewarts meats. Can't miss it, big boat launch area with parking and swingsets. Hope the river stays up!

Coolio - see you at the river park at 10am.
Is there a good breakfast place near there? We will probably be there around 8ish and need to kill some time with a big pile of flapjacks.

Oh well the river dropped down to a low level. It's always runnable at any level, but the 3.2 ft level is the best, it will be a well needed workout anyway.
