    Posted: 13 Feb 2006 at 6:02pm

The second session of the Outdoor Adventure Center's free rescue clinic is this Wednesday evening.  7pm at our shop in Redmond.

If you didn't make it to the first session, not a probem.  We'll review some of the knots and basic systems for creating mechanical advantage that we covered in the first session before introducing some more advanced systems and concepts.

For directions to the shop visit http://www.outdooradventurecenter.com/contact.asp.

Jeff

This is a good to know class.  If you intend to take the Rescue Three International WRT or SWRT course through us (taught by our Wavetrek staff) or with UPS (taught by Sierra Rescue) this clinic will serve as a good introduction.

The certifying courses go far beyond the scope of this clinic and teach a variety of skills that all paddlers should know.  However for those with no prior technical rescue experience the certifying classes can introduce more skills then can be mastered in a short period of time.

The purpose of this clinic is to familiarize paddlers with some of the techniques and skills that will be covered in depth in classes they may take later (primarily knot tying and simple mechanical advantage).  It also provides an opportunity for those who already have these skills to practice them (building mechanical systems MUST be muscle memory or it will do you no good).

For more information on our "certifying" rescue courses coming up this Spring visit http://www.outdooradventurecenter.com/Classes/dept.asp?d_id= 17943&l1=17943.
