Topic: Upper Gorge lunch run Posted: 01 Nov 2005 at 6:19am |
OK everyone, i'ts time for the Workskipper to come into action. If the Gorge stays at the current level it will be a perfect lunch time blast from work. If it rises out of control I may opt out for an easier run, and if nobody can go on Wed. then maybe Thursday? Man is it ever raining, finally!

Dave, what is the river like at this flow? Or, to put is another way... At what level should people like me (who run Boulder Drop but still get nervous about it) start to think about running something else.

I will probably boat this on thursday if it goes up more.
Tom,
The green is really a great play run up to like 4k. At 4k it starts to
feel a little bigger, but not of course like the thompson. Then around
6k it starts becomeing super fast. I would say that you will be fine as
long as you are under 5k. ;)
Of course I say that with out liability..... lol

Thanks James. I'm probably in, I'm feeling a little "under the weather". Perhaps the best way to feel better is to get out and play under the weather. I'll let you know. I'm assuming that means I should bring a playboat below 4K.

Ok so lets change this trip to Thursday, hope that is OK Tom, James could you do the honors with the date? Tom, I've ran the gorge alot and I like it up to 3000, but 4000 is about the same difficulty, just some of the fun easy play is blown out, after 4000 it gets big and scares me (I'm easily scared).

Sounds good, Thrday works for me. Thanks for the info Dave. Sounds like if the river is below 3k I'll bring my playboat, above it I'll bring my big boat. Once again, I'll let you know for sure if I'm in later.

Anyone have a guess on how likely it is that this will still be running at all this weekend? I'd love to get out there again, and not a lot of need for a playboat above 3k, the waves are big enough to hit up in your creek boat and you'll be more comfortable.
If it's running this weekend I'm up for heading down there - would anyone else think about running it again?

It will still be in this weekend, however it will most likely not be too much higher. At least that is my guess.
I love the green by the way, but if the NF of the Sky is in that is
where I will be. Pilchuck Creek too, love that run. Watch the levels
and lets see.
I have a feeling that there will be ample trips going on this weekend. Everyone should have a nice river to paddle.

It's raining again!!!!!!!!!!! YES, YES, YES! Are we the only ones who get giddy when it starts to open up above !!! Skiers excepted :) Just registered to this forum after hearing about it from others. Planning on the old standby bike shuttle today, but seeing as hows its going to be a party.... guess I'll crash.
See ya @ 11...
And let's hope they open the gates, dancing!

I can not believe that I missed this trip. My apologies to those that
made it. I forgot that my boat was at a friends house 1.5 hours away. I
am getting it back this afternoon, so this weekend is a for sure
thing!!!!

I went to the Pool Session in Tacoma last night since I missed the run. Got a new paddle and my boat back!!!
I am really digging this whole bent shaft idea. I think I'm on the
bandwagon, but not for that foam cored nonsense you can't get me there!
