So I like most people love to see pictures and movies of Kayaking. It is a pain thought to try and find the newest media on rivers by checking constantly. So I thought I would add Icons to each river on the rivers pages that will show if the river has photos and video on it, and then also if the river has details.

The icons would be have like a different style if they were updated in the last 7 days or something... Let me know if that sounds cool or not. At least then everyone could just load up the river page and know if there is new stuff to see or not....

Lets have some feedback here... There are tons of people using the site and I want to make it better all the time so let me know what to do. I will make it easy...

How long should the Media Icon be flash as a Page with New Media... I was thinking like 7 days?

Should there be a Seperate Icon for Video and Phots?
Should there be an Icon for Updated River Details?

Help me out here folks lets make this site better and all you have to do, is respond

Hey I would love to see something like that. I apologize for not getting more active on the board, it is kinda weird posting when you don't know anyone, but I guess that is a benifit of joining a new board, no one really knows anyone.

Anyways thanks for the work and my response is Go for it. If there is anything I can do to help you out let me know. I don't know squat about computers so I am not much help there, but I do like to boat.

Thanks again and let me know when you think that feature will be active?

Daryl,

Thanks for the feedback on that... Just for you I will try to get something out the door in the next few days on that idea. Again thanks for the response.

Right on dude. I will be looking to see how fast you build out those tools.

No pressure though

The pictures and clips are great.  How about adding the date to either the media list or to the picture info.

Glad to see a place to note the river level as well!

For Daryl,

I made your media updates page, and I will add another style with icons on the river gauges page but it will not be the default page you view. That is too keep it fast and small for the PDA users and such.

For Windwaves,

I created a field called entereddate. It shows the date that the media (Video or Photo) was uploaded to the site. I think you might also want to have the date the media was taken, so when the person uploading the media does that they can create notes and add the date and time. If it becomes a frequently used field I will create a custom field for the date it was taken. For searching etc..

Hope that works for everyone!!! More to come soon, sorry it took so long.

New Photo & Video!

Thanks for the media list. That is exatly what I was hoping to see. I am not sure if I would want to clutter the gauge page with all that stuff anyways. Thanks again and if I can think of any good idea's I will post them.

By the way I did not think that it was going to get done as fast as you did.

You could make the frame size of you great videos smaller like 320 x 240 so that htey would load quicker.

You should somehow make a database of all the media that's subimitted so people can search it and so people can just see all the videos or all the pics that have been submitted.  Just an idea

J,

There is actually already a database in place.... It is just a matter of knowing what everyone wants to search for.

Example... I can create a page where you can search for media by the following:

Type: Jpeg / Avi / Mpg etc...
ZipCode: Distance from a Zip Code
River: River you select
Rapid: Rapid You Select
Person: Name of a Professor Paddle Member or just a name
River Level: Level of River
Difficulty: Class Rating
Size: File Size
Author: Name of a Professor Paddle Member who uploaded the media

Anyways I am working on some new little features that use this stuff, but without knowing what everyone wants on a search page I can't really make it. Hope that helps.
