Dry Suit: I'm a dinghy sailor, that also kayaks. I'm looking to get a dry suit that would be good for sailing.. sea kayaking... and (hopefully) ww river kayaking...

I ran across the Stohlquist Shift, which appears to do everything.. but it's a little bulky, which might be bad for the river, due to snags, the hood is removable, but it acts like a two piece and the waist has a coat-like feel.

http://www.stohlquist.com/apparel/drysuits/shift.html

Curious if anyone has this drysuit or has a similar set of requirements and found a different drysuit.

Cant speak from personal experience, but I've had my eye on Ocean Rodeo's suits. Worth a look. Last year fisheries supply had some pretty good deals on prior year models.

Dang, that Ocean Rodeo Ignite is the same exact drysuit as the Stohlquist Shift.. not the first time I've seen it rebranded, there's also the Level 6 Fjord, which looks real similar.

I guess what I really like about them, is the ability to go in "stand-by" mode aka taking off the neck gasket. Which I think would be really nice for bigger sailboats or when you won't get knocked in the water and need good rain protection.

The one season I spent in a Stohlquist drysuit was the wettest and coldest boating season I've experienced...

Kokatat is the best not just in quality but service. They built quality stuff and stand by them with great warranty and do their own repairs. They have a few different kayaking models if you definitely want a skirt tunnel. Or the classic GFER Model is a great all around suit. They can customize for you too if you want any addons. I haven’t worn their less expensive hydrus models but I hear they are as good as any of the other brands goretex knockoffs out there but are a bit heavier and less breathable as real gore tex suits. Kokatats gore Tex suits are great and are favored by most of us who run rivers in the winter.

Also, OS systems make great suits, are also US made and have their own service but I’ve never owned one do I can’t vouch personally for them... I do know that some folks who need a non standard size have done well getting a custom suit from them.

Not even close in quality.
