All closed cell foam is not created equal. Minicel is the only foam I've come across that absolutely, positively will not absorb water under any conditions, even as it gets beat up, squished or starts coming apart. I have bought several boats over the years with outfitted with oddball foam that added noticeably to the weight of the boat and in some cases, looked like a biology experiment. I do use other types of foam for temporary outfitting, but for regular outfitting, I make sure it's minicel.

Friendly Foam in Everett was 15 minutes from work and had minicell.
Got them done and have enough for round 2 if I don't like em!
