main fork Chehalis? is there a link on the rivers page? ive done a lot of research regarding anything within an hour and a half of me. Once Im a bit more confident I want to make river guide videos for everything down here.
It's not a race to be some hardcore class V creek bro either. Have fun at the point you're at and don't try to force/rush yourself into harder stuff just because it looks cool on vimeo.
darren & brock? id be very interested in hearing about turnback canyon run in playboats? Im assuming thats what you mean. Im from alaska originally so ive heard of the alsek from some friends in the past.
& lol videos have nothing to do with it. its just an urge. harder always equals better. I claimed my first 5.12 in my first year of climbing.
My first base jump was three weeks after I received my A license.
My buddy & I hiked the PCT 2 weeks after finding out it existed.
heli boarding in the chugach range my first year on a snowboard.
I understand the necessity of time in grade or experience when it comes to anything life threatening but ive also been flying by the seat of my pants and using the total immersion method for every extreme sport Ive enjoyed allowing me to explore more & more of the world.
Im no stranger to epics & no slouch when it comes to survival skills. ive got my WFR certification, as well as my spi certification & will be practicing safety all winter with a friend who works SAR & is proficient in swiftwater rescue & the like.
Main point is I dont believe In dabbling in anything but rather becoming proficient efficiently by investing as much time as possible from the get go.

If you have any time off this week you should come up to BC Chilliwack, they are doing a slalom coaching thing and allowing some sessions for people in creekboats. Super nice people. One of the best things you can do for your river skills, a lot of the people winning extreme races are slalom boaters. $25/class or $40/day for two classes. PM me if you're interested. Same goes for anyone else, PM me and I can fill you in.
It's all fun and games until someone loses a paddle.
Irene,
Can you give more info on the BC Chilliwack event? Sounds like a great event and it has been awhile since I've visited every rock in Tamihi-so it is time to go back to swim by and say hi... I looked at VKC's site and didn't see anything.

imageAK: I'd be happy to go Kayaking with you PM or shoot me a text if your ever in the Sky drainage 360-631-9057. I have to be honest though I'm not the best instructor by any means. I think the best mentor your going to find around is Rob McKibbin. He's the guy who taught me just about everything I know about Kayaking.
rorosherman: I use Sweet Protection but that's because it fits me really well (tall and skinny) great gear but very expensive. I say get whatever you can on a deal/sale a new Sweet/Kokatat drytop is close to $500...
