It means I consider the Hwy 20 and Hwy 2 Corridors High Risk areas for Car Prowling / Breakin & Vandalism more so if you are parking over night. Obviously the different places you park make a big difference.
For the section I am talking about you can park at the free boat launch on the Darrington Hwy side or you can take out at the Howard Miller Steelhead Park on the Rockport Side. They are literally below the 530 Hwy Bridge but on opposite banks. If you park at the Howard Miller Park it is $5 for using the Ramp and $5 for overnight parking, the other side (south) is free, well covered by trees, had broken glass in the Parking Lot and gave me that uneasy feeling that I was leaving my vehicle in the exact spot that is prowled every night by methheads and vandals willing to bust a window out for a half used pack of Gum, three dimes and a cashed out coconut flavored scent tree hanging on the dash.
Since I had about three fiddy in change in my cup holder and a well used but still functional Pubic Prawn dangling from my sun visor, I concluded that the $10 dollar fee was a worthy investment. That cost allowed me to park directly next to the Camp Ground Host, use the trash cans and support a park that seems to be a worthy operation.
I mean cmon 10 bucks ain't much, I still had enough to buy some princess color books and even a kids chair for $2.99. Oh and I will most certainly be back, my daughter loved her first overnighter from the raft and is still talking about it.
