Werner Paddles is seeking an energetic, positive, self-motivated Process Engineer to join our team supporting the production of high performance paddles.    

This individual should be a degreed engineer with a proven history of experience utilizing SolidWorks and Microsoft Excel.  Must be mechanically minded, creative, and comfortable working with tools and equipment.  Experience in fabrication and lean manufacturing is preferred.  Automation or plastic injection molding experience will also be considered.

Most importantly, Werner Paddles is a tight knit team of out-going, open minded individuals operating in a fast-paced, fun-loving work environment.  We would love to round out a team with a personality that meshes with our company and brings a unique skill set to the table.  Sense of humor, ability to multi-task, and love of the outdoors are a must.  Paddling experience in any discipline is desired.

Position:  Process Engineer

Immediate Supervisor: Senior Engineer

General Responsibilities:

 

Provide technical expertise in the design, fabrication, troubleshooting, development, installation and qualification of equipment.

Improve and document production processes.  Support lean initiatives and the streamlining of the production flow and layout.

This individual must be enthusiastic about working in a team to challenge existing processes and product designs and to facilitate positive change towards both.

Specific Responsibilities:

Initiate, direct, and support projects to implement innovative equipment, tooling, processes, and methods that enhance efficiency, improve safety, and increase profitability.

Create procedures, work instructions, drawings, workmanship standards and other technical documentation as required.
Provide strategic engineering insight to daily manufacturing processes to help improve efficiency of production layout and flow.
Analyze and design test methods and processes necessary to meet Production requirements and improve quality.
 
Support manufacturing personnel in lean efforts.
 
Support the introduction of new products into production environment by performing New Product Introduction (NPI) tasks as assigned.
 
Perform time studies on the production floor to determine labor time standards.
 
Assist with technical protocols for validation of materials, products and processes.
 
Investigates and provides solutions for highly complex problems where intricate analysis of situations or data is required.

Contribute to cross functional teams that drive improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in process documentation, technical writing and flowcharts.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a discipline of engineering.  Experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment creating and documenting processes and procedures.
  • Proficient in the use of SolidWorks and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with lean manufacturing.

 

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Experience working with composite materials and lamination processes.
  • Experience with or knowledge of injection molding.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment designing, specifying, fabricating, assembling, and debugging machinery and manufacturing processes.
