I'm looking to make my own hand paddles out of a boat I'm going to recycle.  Just wondering if anyone out there has ever made their own?  Or if you have good suggestions on style/type of hand paddle.  I'm mostly familiar with the type for swim training.  I'm assuming boating ones are similar maybe just slightly larger?
What do those who hand paddle look for in their hand paddles?

Thanks for any info!

Of all the hand paddles I used in the SE the Power Paws style paddles were the best, basically a hand shaped piece of plastic with webbing and a ladder lock for holding it on your hand.

I had this style and they worked pretty good.
The line will become apparent

I made these to stow in the boat in case I lost or broke a paddle. Thanks to Werner, that almost never happened!

Made with:
-Milk crate plastic
-Neoprene from old Farmer John
-High strength thread & fatty needle
-Some Aquaseal glue

Turkey Shoot action!

my favorite hand paddles have holes in them so you can grab stuff without taking them off (pull skirt). most of the year hand paddling is really cold so i also look for ones that can somehow help keep my hands warm.
