We used the Jackson Levator mount: http://store.jacksonkayak.com/gopro-levator-mount/

There are DIY options for this sort of thing, but they usually require some sort of drilling into the boat, or removing grab loops... Not ideal.  The jackson system is bomber as long as you have solid grab loops (ie: newer jackson, or liquid logic boats).  Dagger and Wavesport should work as well with their hybrid grab loops.  Pyrhanna boats are going to give you the most gripe... my buddy just used it on the Canyon with his burn and he said it worked, but took some creative rigging. 

That said, it is IMHO the best POV angle for Kayaking... Just make sure you're on your game if you're running low ish, because it will break off and it will likely sink to the bottom if you slam it up on some rocks...
