Anyone ever heard anything about this being run? Seems like it would be an epic mission - has to be one of the biggest remaining unrun stretches in the state. 4000 feet climb in 5 miles with your boat, then drop the same down to the river. Canyon looks fairly inescapable with a 1000 foot gradient loss over something like 7 river miles. Here's the best pictures of the canyon i could find:

Napeequa Canyon

Upstream of the canyon

No trail access into the canyon from either end.

Google maps shows a lot of whitewater in there...

Just idle daydreaming...I'm not hardcore enough to try for this, maybe someone else will and write it up?

Jon Almquist told me it had been run before.  You might want to see if you can get some info from him.

That's funny. I was just looking at a map the other night and noticed this river myself. Never realized there was a river between the Chiwawa and White feeding the Wenatchee.
My guess is it has been run or at least looked at by a boater. Gary Korb would be a good place to start - he is the pioneer of the Lost River - considered to be a pretty remote hard to access run in the area.
My thought the other night was it'd be similar to the white, chiwawa and/or little wenatchee.
But you never know. Might be an awesome run - still a poor effort to pleasure ratio though.

Yep, I've heard that it's been run, at least by one group.  Of course I wasn't there to witness it...  Think it was Jim Good, Bob Duffner, et al back in the day.  Heard they humped it up over one of the passes (Little Giant?).  Would not be surprised if the Sprague, Eric, Scott crew ran it as well, but maybe not since at least Sprage & Eric focused on runs within the National Parks.

Looks like there might be some wood?

Or is that on a different river?

Sprague told me he ran it with Eric and said it was a very pretty run.

He is actually peeing in the river using one of those courtesy tubes so the the native wildlife don't see his willy or his stream of urine. It's the latest gadget for no impact hiking. You should see the one for number 2.

Right on, I figured someone must have ran it. Happy that there are still bigtime adventures just virtually in the backyard.
