Topic: Thursday Evening Upper Green Gorge Posted: 25 Apr 2012 at 4:45pm |
The levels are already dropping ever so quickly. 1800 cfs drop in the last 24 hours. I'll be at the take out anywhere from 4:45 to 5:00 Thursday evening for an afterwork run. Would anyone like to join me?

I mean the take out. Paradise at 4:45-5:00. Depends on traffic. There was an accident on 405 last time I went and that gave me like a twenty minute delay.

I'll be there at 5:10. Gimma a hollar here if you just want me to roll up to the put in. We wanna put in across from Kanasket?
Or if you can wait, I'll swing by Paradise and see what's happenin bout 5:10 (or maybe I'll make 5).
Yup, Dave on this we can agree: 2600 is a great flow zone. Can't go wrong. Fluid and dynamic, yet accessible without being gnarly. ( I admit those flows above 3,000 can dish out some gnar if one doesn't stay on top of it).
Remember we have a dual purpose: we gotta keep a lookout for Jim's paddle.

2680 is a sweet flow. A casual IV- that still boats like class III, and the Nozzle is more like "normal" flows.
Kinda funny though how most people consider 900-1400 "normal" flows, and I ain't trying to beat a dead horse, but just think about this:
What would be "normal" if that dam wasn't there? Probably flows like we've had this week: 2400-3800. That is the flow when the Green comes alive. The river speaks it. It expresses itself that way. You can just tell by the way it flows. The way the canyon holds the shape of the current, ect.
But if you never check it out above 2000 or so, you'd never know. So PPeeps oughta rally it like Dave says. Its like the best of both worlds between the Wenatchee and the Tilton

I agree with what you said about the river flows jP. when I first ran the river the flow was 1200. I didn't think much of the upper green. then I ran it at higher flows and my opinion of this stretch shot through the roof. I now consider this a RIGHTEOUS stretch of river!
