In 2010 the Wenatchee river Festival almost did not happen. Riverbooty started the raft games and found a handfull of sponsors with short notice. The festival stayed alive and we have added more to it in the last couple of years. Its the boating community that really makes this happen. This festival has been the 2nd weekend in June for years now. The festival will happen again this year.

OPEN COUNTRY JOY will be playing at the Cashmere riverside center durin and after the awards and raffle.
Below is some information on this years events.

The Third Annual Wenatchee Raft Games, hosted by Riverbooty Photography, will be held on the Wenatchee River between Leavenworth and Cashmere on the second weekend in June, 2012. This has become the largest river festival in Washington. We are very excited about hosting this event again We have had a great response from rafters and outfitters alike and look forward to this event bringing the rafting community out for a great weekend on the river. Come out, compete and have fun!

Events include:

Friday evening: Raft surfing competition (at Rodeo Hole depending on river level)

Friday evening: River board surf competition (Rodeo or Granny’s Rapid depending on river level)

Saturday: Throw bag competition (accuracy and distance. booth will be set up at the park all day. Come by throw a bag into a bucket and win it.)

Saturday: Timed down river raft race (Rodeo to the Applets Way bridge at the bottom of Granny Rapids)

Teams include : R-4 Raft

Saturday: River board race competition (Rodeo to the Applets Way bridge at the bottom of Granny Rapids)

Saturday: New this year! Dutch oven cook off

Saturday: New this year! Stand up Paddle Board races. Pro race from Rodeo to Cashmere. Novice race from Cashmere to Monitor.

Saturday: Flip and recovery competition (At the Cashmere takeout after the races)

Sign up early. Space will be limited

We are looking for participant prizes, volunteer gifts, silent auction items such as t-shirts, headlamps, carabiners, straps, safety gear, first aid kits, dry bags, helmets, PFDs, camping gear, help with the payment for permit fees, equipment to use for some competitions (i.e. throw bags, race number tags, easy up shelters, tables). We also need sponsors for items such as participant medals, water, t-shirts, port-o-lets and participant numbers. Volunteers AND competitors are welcome.

Volunteers needed for:

Safety on the river

Set up and break down

Judges on the river

Help with event scheduling and coordinating

A couple rafts to carry First Aid, water and food

Extra shuttles if needed

Proceeds will go towards supporting American Whitewater and a bigger and better Wenatchee River Festival in years to come including rafting, kayaking, river boarding, fishing, rescue courses and clinics, Dutch Oven cook off, stand up paddle board events and much more.

See our growing list of sponsors and get more information as updates come available at www.riverbooty.com. Your comments and suggestions are welcome! We look forward to your help in making this event a success.

All donations should be sent to 13529 Puget Sound Boulevard, Edmonds Washington 98026.

Run Clean.

I'm a little confused. Is this a separate festival not associated with the river fest or are they somehow linked? Are they sharing sponsors and event locations?
The line will become apparent

The Wenatchee River Festival is happening this year. It will be the 2nd weekend in June. Fri has a small town throwdown at Rodeo.
Sat has a lot of events kayak races, raft races, SUP races and pleanty of contest at the takout like a all day throwbag contest. Just stop by and donate $5 to American Whitewater and throw a bag. If it lands in the target you win the bag.
A great band called Open Country Joy will be playing at river side center Sat eve. Should be another good festival.

Thanks again to Mike and Cynthia for putting in the hard pre-season work to make this event something that we all look foreward to. Any way we can make some of the rafting competitions later in the evening as opposed to the in the afternoon? I know alot of the boaters who make their humble living screaming at tourists to paddle downstream would appreciate being able to participate in the events instead of washing sweaty wet suits during the same time.
Cheers,
Lubes

PP Ball is usually in the late afternoon and night anyway and the WRF is during the morning and afternoon, so it should work out great and be a full weekend. Plus PP people are usuall y so hung over in the morning they cant do much anyway until 3pm...
