Canoe & Kayak magazine is hosting the showing of Wildwater at SIFF Cinema, February 10th at 7pm.  Tickets are $10 and will be available for purchase on SIFF’s website:

http://www.siff.net/cinema/calendar.aspx?mode=1&GID=-1&date=2/10/2011

Here is the link to the film: www.wildwaterfilm.com

And a brief synopsis of the film:

"WildWater defines the future of adventure films as it explores the dynamic interactions and connections formed between human-beings and natural forces.  Shot around the world with the latest in digital cinema technology, WildWater, immerses audiences in the whitewater experience.  Awe-inspiring feats, breathtaking wilds, along with personal interviews, give the film a revelatory quality that delves deep into the essence of whitewater and the river runners who dare venture into the unknown.  Cinematography of the highest quality combined with surround-sound audio make this film a feast for the senses and one you surely won't want to miss!"

 SIFF Cinema

321 Mercer Street
Seattle, WA 98109
(206) 448-2186

In addition to promoting the event, we also need to acquire approximately one hour of local paddling/river/adventure films to screen alongside Wildwater!  Anyone have some local flavor to add to the event?  Contact me if you do!

Hope you all can make it for a night of epic whitewater cinema!  We will be giving out some kayak straps, 12 footers!  Passing out some new magazines, cash bar on sight!

This film is badass! I saw it at the Banff Mountain Film Festival and it was definitely one of the top competitors. See it if you get a chance!

*YAY*! I'm stoked for this!! I was considering hosting it in-lieu the February movie night, but I didn't reply soon enough-- I'm so glad that Canoe and Kayak is hosting it!! I'd encourage anyone who has the availability on 10 February at 7pm and $10, to go!! Since it's such a wonderful opportunity to go, I'm thinking of cancelling the February Movie Night and just directing people to go to this instead. It's going to be a great show & it helps support a positive cause: Whitewater! Plus, they're giving out stuff!!

Looks like Matt Kurle and Dan P. will be showing us some local footage to warm up the crowd.  Also for you cat boaters and Rafters we have highlights from Year of the Cat going Feral!  Should be one hell of a time!

Ok, the local video is finished (and sick I might add). So come out and check out the local goods in all their glory.

Meltdown will have footage of all the local favorites: Little White, Robe Canyon, Chelan Gorge, Tumwater Canyon, The Cooper, Icicle Creek, playboating on the Wenatchee. All the goods! As well as some great footage of Canyon Creek (sans epic logjam), Deer Creek, Ernies and The imfamous Carbon River.

No model releases were signed so don't sue me, I'll buy you a beer
Here is a little sneak peek. Hope to see you out there tomorrow night!!

Given how this is the only kayaking event - ever - in our neighborhood, I thought I'd mention a few restaurants if people are looking to grab a quick bite to eat before or after the movie. All of these places are within 1/2 block of the corner of Queen Anne Avenue North and Mercer.

Pagliacci Pizza
Roti (Indian) - Great Indian food.
Athina (Greek) - This is where we will be, probably around 6:30 PM
Toulouse Petit - fantastic New Orleans style restaurant. Inexpensive for Seattle dining but more pricey than the rest of this list. Also, need more time for dinner here.

Good time seeing everyone last night. By far the fanciest place Ive ever watched kayak porn. But I was a little disappointed it wasn't upstairs in the big hall.
