Hey just to let everyone know..

The passenger side window of my truck was smashed this afternoon while parked at the MM Put-in. I don't keep a lot in there so they got almost nothing other than some CD's, a pair of sunglasses, and a multi-tool.

Lame ending to a fun low water MM trip.

That sucks, Butch.

fu*ktards piss me off. That is essentially meaningless destruction. Its been known to happen from time to time:

Tilton, Green, Middle Middle, Sky, Robe...

But I haven't heard of any incidents in awhile.

Regardless, there has been talk among boaters of setting up sting opperations in the past. Always an option. So are cameras.

Sorry to hear that man. Sounds like you were wise in not keeping many valuables in your car. definately be careful at the green, a few years ago we paddled it and they broke into my friends truck, took a credit card out of his wallet and put the wallet back in the truck. by the time he figured it out they already had a hayday with the card.since then its now my rule of thumb to only leave the "must haves" in my car ie drivers license and a small amount of cash for gas, beer etc. once again sorry to hear the mm is now on the same list.

Butch, you report it to the cops?
I see the Sheriff and assorted forest rangers up and down that road all the time. A report to them might get a couple more out there.

Dave - I filled out the online police report and it was approved this morning. So, I guess I notified the police. I am not sure if it helps at all though.

Sometime I wonder if it would be better to just leave the truck unlocked and the windows cracked a bit so they wont smash the windows. I never have anything of value in my vehicles, but dont want the windows smashed.

Thanks for posting up and filing reports. It seems like sometimes these incidents come in waves so hopefully the powers that be can nip it in the bud. A few years back there was a rash of car break-ins up the way at Exit 38; sounded like it may have been done by organized groups versus tweakers. Hopefully that's not the case here, but I'll be especially vigilant about leaving nothing to tempt - course that's hard for boaters with all our gear bags and such. Agreed with Dave about just maybe just leaving it unlocked.

You need a scarier dog.

In all sincerity, that sucks. Sorry to hear.

Might we consider dropping people/gear at the put in and one person driving back to more frequented parking for a term?

The only thing that could be seen from the window was the sunglasses and they were nothing special. I am not necessarily sure it was tweakers. They only grabbed whatever could be reached through the window including the glove box and center console. They also grabbed my garage door opener and paperwork with my address was on the seat. I am only guessing that it was for later. Thankfully, I got home and reset the garage door before anything happened. All this to say that they seemed pretty calculated about what they were doing.

One of the guys I was boating with noticed a white Chevy truck that seemed to be checking us out. Not sure if if means anything but something to keep your eyes out for.

Be safe out there - Butch
