Hey PPers,
Just wanted to pass along that Sierra Rescue is offering a rescue course on the Cedar River in a few weekends, March 27-28. This course is certified by Rescue 3 International, and is a River Rescue Certification (RRC) course. This is similar to the SRT/WRT courses that are offered, but is in a two day format that is specifically for guides, private boaters, and kayakers. Although the SRT-1 and WRT-1 are great classes that teach some of the same basics, the RRC is specifically aimed to give people skills that are going to be useful for the type of paddling they are into (rather than agency stuff for firefighters or search and rescue teams).
The course is $250 for the weekend and can be registered for at
SierraRescue.com. Please take a look and get some good training if you haven't already taken a course. This is also a great opportunity to brush up on some rusty skills or learn some new ones if you have taken a course in the past.
Play safe on the river!
