Yo...
Happy New Year to all of you Robe-aholics and "social Robers" alike (You don't have to be COMPLETELY addicted to Robe to be included in the mix and enjoy the fun) --

A few of us kicked off the new year with a trip down this wonderfull canyon, and in fact ended 2008 with a few runs down it as well. There's still a healthy amount of snow to kick through to get to the put-in, as well as at Landslide.

Garbage used to be so smooth that I wondered what the big deal was, but since those 'lil floods in November, it is deserving of its name--scout it thouroughly, especially at lower flows!!

Anyway, here's to starting off 2009 right with Robe:

I plan to keep an eye on the guage and run it regularly.
To those of you with rafts: I'd like to R2 it sometime.
To the CAT BOATERS out there-- Be sure to get a hold of me when you want to go, I'd love to join you guys out there sometime!

Happy New Year!

Next weekend, Jan 10th & 11th, may be good, perhaps with flows in the 5' range. That's enough encouragement for me to want to activate the Robe Watch!

Who's up for some Robe maneuvers next weekend?

Robe ont tuesday 1/13 anyone? Should be dropping into the zone, and may be good on Wed as well. After that, though, it's gonna dry up this week, so get it while it's hot!

Had to sit that session out. Better to keep working and be ready for the next one(s). Heard you guys had a clean run (no major wood issues) and  encountered some minor changes in a few spots...

So what's keeping "the robe" hovering and not dropping out?  Hard to imagine much much snowmelt happening right now.  Might be interested in a run sometime this weekend if she holds up.

Yeah, it's strange isn't it? The actual flow was consistent with the gauge when I ran it Wednesday.
I'm planning on a quick lap at 2 tomorrow.

I was wondering that myself when I looked at CC this afternoon.  I decided that with all the rain last week on top of the snow melt, the ground must be pretty well saturated and all that water is just leaking out into the stilly.

I heard there is an inversion happening.  I would imagine there is some melt coming from above.  Might be wrong though.

Evans, do you want to go tomorrow, not sure about 2 but maybe 11?

Level looks back up to (or holding at) 5.5. I am planning on running robe in the morning tomorrow and being home by 2 pm. If anyone is interested leave a post or give me a call.

ROBE WATCH ACTIVATE!!!

I'm in Seattle and I gotta tell ya: Right now I'm seeing a lot of people walking around with umbrellas.

About the current flows: the PP guages are reading 4.2, yet I went to AW and their posted guage reading is 5.09

I'm inclined to leave town right now and go run it. But I won't . Tomorrow is wednesday though, and I think a Robe Trip may be in the cards. There is another option, too.

Regardless, I'm increasingly optimistic that we'll have at least a little bit of water to host  some of our out of town friends when they show up Friday for Cody's premiere.

Another round of raindances, everyone!

Well, First the Bad news:  my work schedule just took a dive. This is bad because it potentially jeopardizes my future spring runnoff time. I really want to work as much as I can right now, esspecially with a broken economy.

But now that I don't have to work Wednesday OR Thursday, you can guess the Good News!

Old Man Robe was an Ass Kicker last week during that brief spike!! He kicked my can ALL OVER the river!

This coming week, who knows?
The forecast calls for a spike between Monday and Tuesday, with levels around 5.5'

AJ-call me if you get that time off.

Robe enthusiasts unite!

Great day on the robe at just slightly below 5 feet. Thanks for coming along Jp, it was great to paddle with you.
One note in particular about the run at 5 feet concerning 20 foot waterfall. DO NOT RUN THE CENTER LINE on the second boof. Your face may smash into a rock, which is not fun. Best to go around on the right side. Seriously, do not run the usual center boof on the second part of the rapid. Just dont.
