This is the Labor Day Payette Trip discussion thread. Please post any questions below.

It is nearly time for our annual Payette Trip.  This is an opportunity to boat in warm weather and warm water; everything from class I through class V.  A number of folks in our community will be heading out to meet up with boaters from all over the west coast.  While there are many camping options, Dave Nissen (of WRRR) reserves camp space at the Hotsprings Campground, right across from the put in for the Swirly Canyon run on the South Fork of the Payette.  There will be a small fee for camping at this site (pays for the group camp site).  This trip has something for everyone and many folks from Seattle are heading out this year.  Carpooling highly recommended, it is a nine hour drive.

So, my truck is full; in fact, I have had at least nine asks for space in the truck at this point, so there shouldn't be any trouble putting together some good carpools.

Good times at the Payettes!  Dave and I are thinking about taking an extra couple days and leaving after work Wed 9/3.  Is anyone else planning to be out there early?

This is an annual pilgrimage that every boater should do!    Each year people drive from all over the US to boat the NF/SF Payette,  during the late summer release on Labor Day Weekend.  Warm water,  hot weather,  good flows,  and an outdoor party that has WW movies showing,  and hot springs near the campgrounds...  Sweet!

I have made this trip for several years now, and take my word for it,  it's an awesome weekend.  You'll see kayaks, creature craft, and catboats,  all running the NF Payette just minutes from your camp.  If the class V NF Payette is out of your range, you can run the bottom 7 miles,  which is IV+.   For the more reserved boaters the SF Payette offers great class III/IV  just down the road.

This weekend has something for everyone!  Motivate your boatin buddies, work out a carpool,  and chase the water!   this is the place to boat during the Labor Day  Weekend

Hey!  New to your forum.  See you are headed up to the Payette for Labor Day.  Two of us are coming up from AZ.  Any chance we could hook up with your group to tag onto some runs/shuttles?  We dontate beer!

Is it true that there is a 'no eating' rule in the Chilli Ride?

It is a variable rule based on a formula of how big of mess any given individual will make and how likely they are to clean up after themselves.

So, who else is going but not in the Leif-Mobile? I might be coming out there and can fit one or two peeps in the truck.

If you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there.
